.50 Beowulf
Well, my .50cal Beowulf came in. I ordered the precision rifle with the pepper pot muzzle brake. Also ordered an EOTech 512.A65 holographic sight (I'll order the 3x magnifier later). Came in a carry case with a few goodies. I just can't see why any feller who likes guns (particularly BIG guns) can live without one. I haven't been this tickled since I was the first kid in town to get a BB gun.
What didn't come was the ammo I ordered, dadgummit! All dressed up and noplace to go.

Re: .50 Beowulf
But I didn't have none of them .50 cal bullets that's long as a 7.62 round and look like somebody's thermos jug to show with it. That just didn't hardly seem decent. It seemed like that'd be like posting a picture of your sweetheart when she was nekkid.
Besides, I don't know how to post a picture.

Re: .50 Beowulf
Just got a FedEx tracking report saying I should get 9 boxes of 325 grain ammo and 4 boxes of 400 grain ammo on the 28th of December. Guess I better make up a poultice and start soaking my shoulder in pickle jiuce right now.

ARRIGHT, YOU GUNPORN FANS, here's yer .50 Beowulf pic!
It's hard to take a good picture that can boil down to 600x600 (or whatever). Here's the poor man's half-inch thunderwhumper. There's a .50 Beowulf round laying on the table.

That's amazing. I absolutely LOVE big bore rifles. I have a .450 Bushmaster now, but the Beowulf is next on my list.

Re: .50 Beowulf
No, it's a real firearm cartridge. .50Beowolf, .450Bushmaster, .458SOCOM, etc. are modern reinterpretations of the old .45/70 (IMHO). They commonly are chambered in ARs as making them work in a semi-auto is part of the reason for redesigning such a successful cartridge (the .45/70). Of course, if you use a modern .45/70 and load it to +P (e.g. Garrett Cartridge), I don't think any of those can keep up. Then again, they can already take pretty much any North American game so more probably isn't necessary.usafvietnam wrote:I'm a little confused. Is the .50 Beowulf an air rifle or what? thanks.
It does make the AR look a bit stout, eh?

I'll tell you one thing. my .50 Beowulf kicks a damnsight more than my Bushmaster .50 BMG.

A muzzle brake and 20+lbs more helps quite a bit, eh?dorminWS wrote:I'll tell you one thing. my .50 Beowulf kicks a damnsight more than my Bushmaster .50 BMG.

Re: .50 Beowulf
the .50 Beowulf is different from a normal 50 call... correct? I know I can get a .50 Beowulf upper for my ar but I see no way the lower could feed regular 50 call ammo. Is it a pistol round like a dessert eagle?
