I moved to a lil' house in Chester.
Neighbors seem fine, and everything seems good, except one thing.
The only gun shop I know down there is Dance's, are there any lil' shops tucked away besides them, and the ones on Midlothian?
How are the LEO's about OC? RPD got used to me after awhile, usually with just a "Whuddup with that?" comment, simply explanation, and everything was okay.

Rev, I live in chester too. The police will not bother you for o.c. just verify that no signs are posted. There is a lil gun shop down the roa a bit called adams muzzleloading and supplies. It's run by the owner and its a one man show. Billy adams is a very nice, knowledgable and professional man. He does transfers for 25.00 total, and will shoot the bull with you as well. His number is 526-8464. He can help locate just about anything you want.

Re: Living in Chester
Dance's is probably the closest. Here's a list of other places that I know of, that are within a reasonable distance:
Bob Moates Sports Shop - In Chesterfield on 360 (Hull Street Road) between Courthouse and Genito.
Town Police Supply - in shopping center at 360 and Courthouse (BTW, I've never been in this place)
Liberty Arms - in Hopewell on 15th Avenue. Kinda a hole in the wall, also a pawn shop, nice folks
DeGoff's - in Mechanicsville, at 8106 Mechanicsville Turnpike. Don't go often, but I have bought from them several times.
There are a few Dick's stores around the area, too. You can Google for locations. Also, north of Richmond, closer to Ashland, are Greentop, Gander Mountain, and BassPro.
I usually CC, but have OC'd a few times around Chester. Lowe's, Home Depot, 7-11, Food Lion, WaWa. No funny looks that I was aware of.
I've only been in the presence of police twice while OC. Once was at the 7-11 next door to the police station. Three LEOs were in there getting coffee. They had to have noticed, but no one said anything. The other time was at WaWa. I was picking up trash out of the floor of my car, gun carried open on my hip at about 4:00 position. PO pulled in to the parking space beside me. He probably saw my gun sticking out, but no mention was made.
Keep us posted on your OC experiences in Chester. I'd be interested to know how it goes for you, if you do OC regularly.

Re: Living in Chester
I appreciate the info. ESPECIALLY Adams for the transfers!
I have a guy close to work, and he's right off 288, but I like having MULTIPLE FFL places.
Not that I buy anything, because those terrible boating accidents I keep having where things go over the side
Here's something funny.
RPD in the late 60's used to dump firearms in the JAMES RIVER at the deepest point to get rid of them. (shrugs) Cheaper than shipping off to a smelter.
I wonder if anything survived?

I will second Liberty Firearms in Hopewell. Ben is pretty knowledgeable and usually willing to work a deal.

Never initiate force against another. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.KYFHO

If you go to liberty make sure there is no gun show. They clear all but a few guns to take to the show. To me they're a little pricey for the selection. But they have tools, jewelry and some after the fact militaria. Its worth the drive to check them out.
