The Arizona town that's become a YouTube sensation for its police department hauling away a woman speaking at a town-hall meeting allegedly declared a state of emergency this afternoon, leaving many local residents in fear of what officers dressed in full riot gear might do.
Jennifer "Jade" Jones, 45, the woman forcibly removed by police from a recent public meeting in Quartzsite, Ariz., despite the vocal objections of the mayor, says an illegal secret meeting was held today with the public locked out of the building.
"About noon today, the town council, at the request of the police chief, declared an official state of emergency," Jones said online. "Please help!"
According to Jones, police escorted Mayor Ed Foster to today's special meeting, but he refused to take part in what he believed to be an illegal event.
While citizens were reportedly barred from entering town hall, they put their ears up to windows to listen in as the council went ahead with its session.
Jones says officials specifically mentioned the news coverage of her removal, the YouTube video that has gone viral and several citizens including herself in making their declaration.
She says police made comments today such as, "We feel that they are trying to incite a riot. We feel we need to do this."
"I have no idea what their intention is," Jones said. "I called the FBI in Washington, D.C., and the guy just laughed at me and asked, 'Ma'am, how come I haven't seen this on the news?'"
Jones explained the emergency declaration just happened this afternoon, and that's when the FBI representative told her not raise her voice and then hung up.
"I don't talk to Obama voters often. But when I do, I order large fries."
Looks to me that the county council is trying to run rough shod over the town.
The mayor was trying to control the situation but (I am just guessing here) the
Council Chairman was trying to over ride the Mayor and won.

It's a lot easier to have people of importance on your side when you're paying them off.
The mayor says the council has even precluded him from examining the payroll. He believes he's uncovered some possible financial wrongdoing involving checks being paid to unknown personnel, and he speculates the recipients could be councilmembers themselves.

I'd like to see a congresscritter investigating this. If true some feddies should be losing their jobs.
Foster was elected in May 2010 on a campaign promise to investigate corruption allegations in the town.
He said since being in office, he has discovered that every pay period, eight to 10 paychecks go to unnamed people and that he has been denied access to financial records to find out where the money goes at every turn.
He said that's been happening since 1991 and amounts to $250,000 every year. "That's literally millions of dollars," he said.
"I don't talk to Obama voters often. But when I do, I order large fries."

It's a little surprising that hasn't happened already. Maybe the cabal running things isn't that sophisticated? If they've had no reason to develop that level of opponent suppression and elimination, they may not even know about anything beyond "shut up or Vinnie will tune you up".

Most recently, he said Gilbert cited and released him on charges of disorderly conduct and interference six weeks ago when he tried to stop him from arresting Jones for the third time because she had sued the town for $2 million on allegations of police harassment.

A spokeswoman for Attorney General Tom Horne simply said, "It is under investigation."
Foster confirmed that "the investigation is now underway," as he indicated some state legislators and state police are now involved.
The mayor also says the vast majority of officers on the town's small police force are in the process of being let go merely because they don't support the actions of Chief Gilbert.
"They're being fired," he said. "They took their police reports to the U.S. attorney's office to file a formal complaint about this today."
The town has not actually fired them yet, but has placed nine officers on "paid, adminstrative leave until such time that you are told otherwise or until your employment is terminated," according to a letter it delivered to the officers today.
That letter instructs the officers: "You are required to remain at your place of residence between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and noon and between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Failure to be present at your residence during those hours without express written approval from the investigator, Assistant Town Manager Al Johnson, shall be considered dereliction of duty and may result in additional disciplinary action, including dismissal."

Holy Cow and this is happening here in America? I am usually all for solving local problems locally. But it is clear to me that it is time for the FBI to get involved here, we have a vigilante police chief that is doing very strange things. He seems to have taken over an entire town and is holding some of the residents hostage in their homes between the hours of 8-12 and 1-5.
