Henrico Police to do presentation on "man with a gun" calls at VCDL meeting in Richmond on June 8th
**************************************************
We have been working with the Henrico PD for them to make a presentation on how they handle "man with a gun" calls. They will also answer other questions you might have about their operation.
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 8th, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. We will meet at :
Tuckahoe Library
1901 Starling Drive
Henrico, VA 23229
Fellowship will start at 6:30 PM. We will go to a local restaurant after the meeting for further fellowship.
A similar event was held with Fairfax PD earlier this year and we had a big turn-out. People really liked the opportunity to be able to interact with the men and women who patrol our streets and protect our communities.
As with all VCDL membership meetings, they are open to the public, so bring friends, family and co-workers.
See you there!

I haven't been to one of these before, but this one's close enough to attend. Do folks typically carry to these events, either open or concealed? Or maybe that's the point, in addition to getting some good info.

Seems like it's a public library administered by Henrico County, so state preemption applies. Carry on!

We routinely have VCDL meetings there. Carrying is fine.

I am looking forward to this.

Wouldn't it being owned by the County make it off limits? Or is that just for Gov't Bldgs?allingeneral wrote:Seems like it's a public library administered by Henrico County, so state preemption applies. Carry on!

The only local gov't buildings that you cannot carry into are courthouses, jails and schools. Everything else is covered under pre-emption.snatale42 wrote:Wouldn't it being owned by the County make it off limits? Did anyone attend this event? I know it was some time ago, but I am new here, and very interested in what the presentation consisted of. I have always had a good impression and experiences with Henrico PD, so I would expect the feed back to be positive.
Thanks,
Wallace

This event was time well spent. Hats off the the HPD. I have only positive things to say about them and their willingness to meet with the general public and have an open discussion on such a hot topic. I would also add that there were a few people who tried to take them down the wrong road and put them into a defensive position. They stayed the course and showed themselves well. They even had their deputy chief on hand to set the table and answer questions. They gave an overview of the training officers receive and what you should expect from them. They also talked about how your response to their arrival determines their course of action.
