Ok, wife says she'll ride along but doesn't want to shoot. Oh well, I was driving over mainly to meet ya'll and for the ride itself.

:-) I'll bring some extra sodas and snack food and some .22 rifles as well as our .22 pistol if she might to play with those. My wife Terri SHOULD be there so she can talk to Terri between her shots if she likes.

I'm going to pack her .22 pistols and my .17 HMR rifle, she may decide to shoot some. She's not into doing a lot of shooting.

We're also planning on bringing a cooler. Not sure if I'm going to bring my .22mag or not. Only thing I dont have is target stand and I know there aren't any there. I've got some cardboard boxes that should do fine - until I blast em a few times with 00.

I have a sign frame, like the one's realtors use, that works pretty good. I'll bring it.

>>I guess I've earned a few brownie points with the Mrs after this weekends honey-do's (power washing the deck and a few other things not on my list for the weekend). <<

I had to cancel the trip at the last minute... Between 6 hours of powerwashing and 4+ hours of airbrushing (temporary tattoos) had cramps in my right arm as well as back spasms.... Am looking forward to the next one though!

Sherry (wife) and I showed up a little after 11:00, waited till about 11:40 and decided to leave since we were the only ones there. Found DK and Young inbound before we got off National Forest land so we turned around and headed back to the range. Snakeeater and son showed up a short while later. I'm sure both will post reports later.

All in all is was a good time. Although it was raining we still got in a little shooting. What I would assume was the rifle range seemed to have quite a few holes in the roof, more than what I think was the pistol range had in it so we headed to the pistol range. I think we had more pistols than long guns there anyway. Sherry and I took a CZ100B, Ruger LCP, Ruger 22/45 MkIII, and Marlin 917V (the only rifle I took). I went through about 100 rounds of .40 S&W, 50 rounds of .17 HMR, and a handful of .22 lr. Sherry fired about 20 rounds through her LCP, that's about all she can handle before the recoil gets to her.

We'll have to try and find a centrally located range so more can meet up. Even if we can't find a range maybe we can find somewhere centrally located just to meet up and have lunch/dinner/whatever.

We wanted go so bad but I simply couldn't. I am disabled and went way past my limits and paid heavily for it. We WILL go SOON as we have 3 new guns that I have yet to send a round downrange with! By next weekend, that number will change to 4! Between now and then, I have some reloading to do!

No problem, Speedy. You were missed though and sorry you couldn't join us. We had a great time despite the rain. I'll post more and pics in a few. Hope you recover soon so you can get to the range!!!

Young and I got off to a late start. We drove just under the speed limit due to the number of VASP on I-66. From our perspective they probably got their quota for July yesterday. It rained most of the way which slowed us down even more. I also drove through Staunton since it was the first time I've gone to Hite Hollow which burned even more time. By the time we hit the gravel road Moccasin was headed in the other direction. We got their just as they were leaving.

Moccasin recommended we use the 2 station pistol range as the roof was in better condition. By this time the rain had slowed to a steady sprinkle, but that didn't stop us from having some fun. I started with a 12ga pump shooting #8 shot and 00. The was my new NEF, which handled the loads very well. I did notice one problem. On the first round the slide didn't lock forward and tended to move back causing a gap between the bolt face and the shell. Not good. Anyway, I followed with a .357, 9mm, .45, and 5.56.

SnakeEater and his son joined us with a 12ga, .308 (very nice), and .45. Moccasin brought a nice Marlin .17 and several pistols.

I haven't done a count yet so have no idea how many rounds Young and expended, but I left the range with plenty of ammo.

All in all a great time. I'm very happy to have met Moccasin, SnakeEater, and part of their family. Good fun and fellowship had by all. Pics follow.

Ah, man! Thanks for protecting us all from those boxes! If they had gotten through the line, there's no telling how much damage they could have done! :)

Thanks for the pics. It's nice to see some smiling faces :friends:

Nice Shirt!! :clapping:
