This celebration of Freedom
On this day 233 years ago, we threw off an oppressive government, our government. First, we complained and followed all the rules and received no satisfaction. Then we turned to peacefull protest. When we were again spurned, we turned to measures that were more drastic. Eventually, we took up arms against our rulers and established the free country, The United States of America. Our founding fathers, with these events in the forefront of their minds not only made the Constitution of The United States, but created the Bill of Rights as well. The bill of rights does not GIVE any rights but instead recognizes the God given rights of all free men and women and places restrictions on those who are to serve US, We, The People, and govern us. We, The People, a collection of Free states retaining their own rights and power, united by a central governing body meant to serve We, The People.
On this day of calibration of that freedom from our own oppressive government, I would like us all to reflect on our roots. Who we are, how we came to be here, and the freedoms that our Founding Fathers had the foresight to insure that the we would retain, as long as we lived within the ideas laid out in the Constitution and the Bill of rights. Ask yourselves if those we elect to serve US have acted within our best interest and wishes. I am not talking about any one party but ALL of our elected officials.
As you celibate your freedom this day, ask yourselves how free you really are. Are the Police above reproach? Are they assigned to things that seem more political than public serving? Are the taxes fair? Are we acting in OUR best interest outside our borders? Are we taking care of our own or are we neglecting our citizens to gain political favor from those who are not Americans, by birth or by naturalization? Will YOU accept and IOU from those who demand Money and ONLY money from you and are NOT patent about getting that?
I urge you all to celebrate our freedom this year by doing all you can, not only to retain what few freedoms we still posses, but to regain those we have given away. Write a letter to your Representative, an E-Mail to your Congressman. Join others in grass-roots organizations who are working toward those ends. BE politically active. Attend a protest or rally. Go to your capital on Lobby day and tell those who are there at your behest what YOU expect from them!
At all times, act within the law. Do NOT cause harm or damage to people or property under any circumstance. You need to be free to fight for freedom. We have a method laid out in those documents we hold dear, The Constitution of the United States and the constitutions of our states, the writings of our Founding Fathers and the Bill of Rights. Only when those who would oppress you have trashed them can one go further. Have we come to that yet?

sadly, I truely believe this is most likely the last independance day this country(as we knew it) will celebrate. The name should be changed to dependance day, that seems to be the will of the majority.

I see it as a public that got caught napping and the less informed bought a bill of goods.. Now we have to right the wrong in the history of this great country of ours,, More and more you see people getting up to be counted and to tell the politicians that they've had enough. It was said by Japanese admiral Yamamoto during the attack on Pearl Harbor "I fear that we have awoken a sleeping giant" That's the way I see todays current situatuion,The giant may be slow to rise and gain momentum but when he does there will be no stopping him...Happy 4th everyone! Remain Vigilant,, We can win this fight!

Speedy nailed it folks. We've got to stand up and make ourselves heard. We MUST take these legislators to task. Cap and Trade is a good example. National Health Care is next. Who knows what's after that. Most of us sit around and gripe about the situation but only a few of us take 5 minutes to send an e-mail or make a phone call to a senator or congressman to thank them or voice discontent.
I realize that this forum is focused on 2nd Amendment rights but we have set ourselves apart as gun owners. Whether we think we are or not, whether we like it or not, WE are the militia, WE are guardians of the Constitution, WE are protectors of not only ourselves and our families but also the future of America.
Unless WE act, congress will continue to enact unconstitutional legislation and it will only be a matter of time. We can no longer limit our voices to 2nd Amendment issues because sooner or later they will come for us. The following sums it up.
First they came for the socialists,
And I did not speak out -
Because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
And I did not speak out -
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
And I did not speak out -
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -
And there was no one left to speak for me.
