Snake ID
was gardening and this little guy slithered in-between my feet... it's not a copperhead, doesn't have the token head features they have, so.... any ideas?

Re: Snake ID
Kind'a resembles a king snake but I don't have my book handy. VDGIF has a nice snake book, shows all Va. snakes and gives a little info on each such as bites or doesn't.
Re: Snake ID
It may be a corn snake. They look similar.

Never initiate force against another. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.KYFHO

Its a corn snake...I have one in a tank about 15 feet from me. They're helpful around the garden/home.

Re: Snake ID
thanks for the positive id kreutz,... guess i shouldn't have killed it.
Re: Snake ID
No, you shouldn 't have. The way I see it, any of the "harmless" snakes are eating the same food that the venomous snakes like, so having them around isn't bad. Now, the Black Racers even eat Copperheads.
