PETERSBURG, VA - An undercover sting leads to the arrest of a Petersburg sheriff's deputy.
Corporal Vernard Bailey is facing several charges -- including two counts of attempted rape and sexual battery against minors.
Police say it started when a concerned citizen reached out to investigators -- informing officers that Bailey was attempting to have sex with an 11-year-old and an 14-year-old.

This is certainly a crime that needs to be followed up on, tried, etc. If you read the article, it gives all the details. But at the end of the article... what is the relevance of this concerning his admitted crime...?

Investigators also removed more than 55 various caliber firearms from his house.

If he's convicted, it'll matter to him, but why is this detail important to the story?

I'm going to leave this alone except to say that there is nothing worse that someone who preys on children. The sickest of the sick. Maybe his parents shouldn't have named him "Vernard"

Because it sensationalizes the rest of the story! Surely you can't expect them to report only the matters that are material to the story.

Lost dog finds home
In today's news, a lost dog was found by his owners and they were so happy. The owner of the dog has a neighbor who reportedly owns an AR-15 and a 1911 semi-automatic pistol. We sure hope he doesn't have high capacity clips. Why would he need to fire more than 10 rounds consecutively anyway?

I understand the twist on the story. The media didn't want the sick pervert to be judged by his sick mental status. They want to show how our rights allowed this sick ass punk to accumulate many weapons. Just out of curiousity, how many knives did he have in the kitchen? I'm sure when he gets to prison he'll be put in PC ( protective custody). When I worked at a prison I had an inmate tell he was gonna kill his cell mate. Said he was describing things he liked to do to little kids. I looked at my watch and told him I'd be back in 15 minutes.

Right the hell on brother. It'd take me exactly 42.50 minutes to do a 15 minute walk around. The extra time would be alotted for a semi professional clean up (change of clothes, stashing of items, and perhaps a nap).
