Air rifle/pistol only range available in NoVA?

Post by LayneFun »

Thinks this one could have its own thread.
==================================
Hi, does anyone know where we could shoot your own air rifle in Northern Virginia? Say Fairfax, Herndon, Chantilly area. etc. Also I don't want to mix with fire arms, would much prefer an "air rifle/pistol only" range. Location/Price would be very helpful. If no such place, can live with fire-arm range too.

Would prefer a close location (gas being so expensive) and friendly environment.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks all,

Why not set up your own in yard or basement? We have 4-H practice for both indoors and the air rifle coach has a range setup in his basement for his children to practice everyday.

Thanks, that's what I do now with those BB rifles. But I'd really want to try those powerful and accurate air rifles.
And I don't have such a big basement. The air rifle I'm talking about would be capable of shooting <1" group at range of 50 feet to even 75 feet. The AA PCP type.

Second, it's much more fun having a group of guys that's enjoying the same hobby.

Think I could find a place that's big enough for out door target practice, but what regulations do I have to follow to set up my own air rifle range out door? Safety concern? Neighbor won't like it seeing anyone pointing a rifle at the direction of their houses either, they won't be able to tell from the looks if it's an air rifle or fire arm rifle. The sound would be much less though given it's pcp type.

Rig a cable or pole and hang a canvas tarp behind target to block view and catch strays, we use a few of them for indoor practice. Build a target with 2x4's in a box frame with a solid back board and cardboard front to pin targets to, with a foam filler. We have 8 of them 6' x 2' with wheels on one end and a handle on the other for easy movement and they work great with bb, air rifle and pistol.

Blue Ridge Arsenal in Chantilly allows air guns (lead pellets, not BB's).
