I got this in an email. I'm not sure if all of them are true quotes, but they all sound good to me and I was able to verify a few of them and assume the rest of them to be true as well.
"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent." Thomas Jefferson
"When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe,
we shall become as corrupt as Europe." Thomas Jefferson
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those
who are willing to work and give to those who would not." Thomas Jefferson
"It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.
A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world." Thomas Jefferson
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the
government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." Thomas Jefferson
"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government." Thomas Jefferson
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." Thomas Jefferson
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." Thomas Jefferson
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson
"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical." Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Every member of Congress should have to sit in a room and read these statements over and over until they understand the truth in them.

Perhaps that one should read "corrupt and socialistic" now.

Or as mine says...
"What country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned
from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance.
Let them take arms."

Great men like Jefferson, Washington, Adams, Franklin, These men were statesmen and were not coereced from speaking the truth,,, Today we have politicians.. I doubt in the future if there will be many truly great quotes from any of the modern day space wasters,, No one has the guts to stand up for the right thing unless its "along " party lines or PC or whatever else makes these idiots work,,

The truth no longer matters. Its all about votes, power, and money. Too many of our politicians have personal agendas which IMO have no place in office. The ONLY agenda any politician should have is protecting and defending our Constitution and ensuring the country moves forward accordingly. I think a "strict" adherence to the Constitution is about the only way to ensure all of the people are represented. And, if someone doesn't like our Constitution then I'm sure they can find a country somewhere else to their liking - maybe.

That is for sure... We have a chance of fixing it a little at a time if we keep the pressure on,, The vote coming up is very important on all levels to show our dislike of the current state of affairs,,,Removing as many of the dregs in office would send a message to the others that we;re damnn mad and aren;t going to lay down anymore,,,We all know that as long as we have Pelosi's. Feinstein's,and Frank's in office things will be tough, But we can police our end of the spectrum and make our "politicians " accountable.. I keep a steady stream of contact with the Senators and Representative from my area and I remember each reply (if even sent) very well...This year and next can be a turning point or a failure depending on us and our commitment to fix the damage and make it right again.

One of the key quotes to remember from the OP is "All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."
I consider most of us to be "People of good conscience", and it is up to us to make our wants and needs known - not just with regard to the Second Amendment, but with regard to all issues that we each hold near and dear.
It is my firm belief that we are where we are today as a country because those of good conscience have remained quiet for too long which has allowed the loons on the left to gain too much ground on pushing social issues wherever they want.
Consider this for a moment... Why is it that the term "Politically Correct" generally means to have tolerance and care about everyone's personal feelings? Why can't the term "Politically Correct" mean to live according to God and the Constitution of the United States? I'll tell you why - it's because the Left is winning the battle and they have made the term "Politically correct" fit their own mold instead of the mold that our Forefathers created two centuries ago! And unfortunately, the common populace has ALLOWED it to happen, not necessarily because it's what we all want, but because it has all slowly crept up on us and we have all remained quiet and ALLOWED it.

Hey Rick, Rants are cool, Lately it seems I have a couple a day,, You are 100% correct on the PC thing,, What happened is when that garbage started too many people took it to heart and actually thought the left was correct and doubted their own true feelings by feeling sorry for groups that didnt deserve or even require it, An awful of lot of people have gotten apathetic about the issues at fault today too,,, I listen to some and suggest to them that if that is their true outlook they may as well curl up in a ball and die,, The attitude "That you can't fight city hall" is BS to me.. Hopefully a lot of the silent people are awakening to realize we are in deep doo doo here and need to get off their collective asses and do something... OK my rant is done for awhile !!!

Well guys, Thomas Jefferson is rolling in his grave along with our other Founders so it's up to us. There is too much talk about the Constitution being a living document, fallible, and only applicable to the 18th Century. I'm fearful that sooner than later someone will call a Constitutional Convention (rumors of that now) and go for a re-write. I like it just the way it stands. I can't wait for the time we get some balance back in DC. Too much power concentrated with the Dems and who knows what loony thing they might come up with.

Old Tom Jefferson was a wise man.
Every now and then I go over to Red Hill and stand by Patrick Henry's grave. I think about what these brave men did and what we allowed it to become.
I sometimes think it's too late, I wonder if this great republic will surive.
We can't give up these men did not give up, even when all odds where against them.

Your sig' line makes me wonder which side of the republican argument you are on. The Bonnie Blue was once a symbol of Confederate separatism and Southern independence.Bob wrote:I sometimes think it's too late, I wonder if this great republic will survive.
Now, do you prefer salvaging the corrupt system of governance that enslaves us all to the last man or an independent, free South that answers to God and itself, with a specifically limited and enumerated central government whose responsibility is not to rule over, but to serve the separate states and their citizens?
I strongly believe that our founding fathers, had they survived to witness Lincoln's thuggery, would have sided with the South, with the Carolinas and with Virginia (their homes) and, aside from the professed first-federalist Hamilton, would have taken up arms against the abomination that had been made of their life's work. They would not have sat idly by, as we have, while the great leviathan stripped and usurped our rights out from under us under the auspices of "security" and "protection"... claiming it is for our own good.
Telling us how to raise our children. Funding murder of innocents. Telling us what we can and cannot consume. Poisoning our water supply. Engaging in sovereignty-dispelling treaties with foreign nations. Waging war, legislation and policy through executive order.
None of these things is approvable nor permissible under the Constitution. None of it. And yet here we are with "czars" and public-private partnerships and land-grabs and "stimulus" packages and on-and-on-and-on.
Deo Vindice.

The Bonnie Blue flag = States Rights
Looking at your picture I have to guess that you are a southerner.
The Bonnie Blue Flag ( which shall be called the Flag from this point ) first came into being in Florida when it was a an independent nation, it was then used in Texas, and was the inspiration for the Lone Star Flag. It was not an official flag of the CSA but was used by many southern outfits. The Flag was used because the Stars and Bars was very confusing on the battle field, flags where important, it was the only way for commanders to know where there troops where.
I am not a republican or a democrat, I am a American. I said the REPUBLIC.
You wonder what side of the argument I am on, what argument, if you are talking north and south you better get over it, the south lost.
I know a lot of good people in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and in South Carolina and Georgia. I also know a lot of ___ _____ ( fill in the blanks) in those states, I use those four states because I lived in all of them.
It's about time for this rebel and yankee nonsense to stop. I'd like to tell you how I really feel about your comments but Rick would kick me off here. My final word to you is---- ---.

The Bonnie Blue did predicate the First National (stars and bars) and was a symbol of solidarity in the quest for Southern independence.
Now, if you want to s**t on me because you would rather stay a subject of the federal crown, knock yourself out.
With any luck and a little help from Above things might end a little differently. I personally believe the only way for us to survive is to separate and let people govern themselves the way they want to. The way it was intended. The way it was envisioned.
If Jefferson was alive today he would be disgusted at the abomination that has been made of America...
The curious difference is that you decided to respond with venom, rather than respect. Your candor exposes exactly the kind of person I could expect to find on the other side of the "argument".
Good day.
