Hey guys. I was wondering when you buy a shotgun, does it usually come with a case like a handgun does? I plan to go ask at my local gun store on Wednesday but i thought I'd ask here first. Gun is a Mossberg 590 A1 20 inch barrel.
Thanks

Re: Question about buying a shotgun
My Mossberg didn't come with a case, but with a little wheeling and dealing, you could probably convince the store to throw one in. As for price, you should be able to pick it up for less than Mossberg's suggested retail price. If you buy some ammo, bore snake and, or some cleaning supplies at the same time, I would think they would throw in the case.mrbladedude wrote:Hey guys. I think you will really like your new Mossberg.

Re: Question about buying a shotgun
My guess is, probably not. I bought a Mossberg 500 12ga last month and the only extras it came with were the 3 choke tubes and a sling. Though, like Greg said, you can more than likely get a few needed extras with the gun and have them toss in a case.
Though there were a few persuader variations, the JIC - Just In Case series, that did come with a tube case, used to pack it away for when you are hiking/camping. Though they are 18.5", not 20".

Re: Question about buying a shotgun
Do you get a sling with it or does it vary from store to store?
Re: Question about buying a shotgun
Mine was a bare shotgun in a box with the manual, sorry
It isn't so bad, usually it is one of the first things to get replaced, since it is a 590A1 your buying, other things that people seem to hang off of it are a saddle ammo carrier (5 or 6 rounds, possibly a new stock (collapseable M4 type or one of the Speedfeed stocks with ammo in it) , a railed fore-end or forend with a light built in it (SureFire makes a nice one). I always wanted to see a Mall Ninja superpimped shotgun with the side saddle, a speedfeed stock a railed foreend with a white light on one side and a laser on the other with an Eotech on top and sling
yeah, one of those bandoleer slings that hold like 30 rounds...
What do you think? At least 18 pounds? gotta figure 2 boxes of ammo plus a shotgun would have some weight

The speed feed stock came on mine, but I did add a saddle ammo carrier. No light, but that is mostly because I haven't found one that I like yet. I keep looking at the Surefires, but they seem to significantly reduce the grip area and I'm not sure I like the feel. I did put an Aimpoint T1 on top of mine for a while and it was pretty impressive.

Re: Question about buying a shotgun
It may vary from model to model of Mossberg. The version I ordered was the plain 28" 12 gauge Model 500. In the box it had: the gun and 28" barrel, 3 chokes, manual, 2 swivel clips, sling and a gun lock from mossberg.mrbladedude wrote:Do you get a sling with it or does it vary from store to store?

I think that might be too much to keep the mall ninja from falling over after chomping down on that last dozen o' Krispy Kremes....grumpyMSG wrote: What do you think? At least 18 pounds? gotta figure 2 boxes of ammo plus a shotgun would have some weight

www.cheaperthandirt.com has the plastic hard cases like wallmart used to sell for $20. I have pets so everything I own is cased or in the box I received it in. Cleaning guns is fun... cleaning cat vomit off guns is less than fun

some folks store weapons in "silicon socks" it allows them to breathe, would keep the cats away.
