A&P ARMS Lynhaven Shooting Range

I Normaly go to Bob's Gun range, but he was closed for mother's day today so I decided to try something new. Here is what i thought of it.

First and foremost when you go to shoot at their range they make you take a short safety test. If you fail the test you may study their rules again and retake it but they make you pass. This made me more comfortable than some of the other places that I have went to which had none.

The staff was for the most part knowledgeable and polite, with the exception of one man who worked there (no names) who seemed to have a giant chip on his shoulder... Bad day maybe??

Their prices and selection of rental guns (I have my own) were nice. I was however dissaponted to find that they still rented and sold Smith and Wesson ammo and firearms. The lane fee I belived to be a little steep, 12.99 though you can shoot as long as you like so I guess it's not that bad.

All in all I would rate the store and service at a 7.5-8 out of 10. I Would return, but only if Bob is closed again.

I'll take Bob's over A&P any day. Every time I've been to A&P, the staff seemed like they were having a bad day. It always seems to me like they are just too busy to be concerned about their customers. I'll go back when they need snow boots in hell.

I went to A&P's Lynnhaven shooting range a few months ago with a newby to let him fire a few hundred rounds before he went to Ca. I didn't run into anyone having a bad day and the female range master was almost pleasant.

I like the fact that I can shoot my Ar-15 and my 870 there too. You just have to buy their ammo.

It seems that the weekend crew is the one that has the issues of having bad days,,, Although in their defense ,they deal with a lot of people and some of them are aggravating as hell, So it gets pretty hectic in there sometimes,, Not defending but noting,, I go usually during the weekdays and have not had any issues, I have used their gunsmith and range with no problems except being told to slow down my shots,,(4 to 6 second rule) Prices there are competitive in the area and many times the lowest, One thing I like is the amount of lanes they have,, It can get pretty busy and you can almost always get one

I bought 2 guns from them. I have yet to run into the guy that always seems to have a bad day. My AR cost the same as the internet as well as my GSG-5. I am happy with their service and prices. For me it is a tie between Bob's and A&P. A&P is just closer for me.

a&p lets you shoot controlled full auto and their employees don't bother asking silly questions about your guns. bob's is cheaper but busier. they're both good places.

Read on another thread about the "high water" problem at the Superior Pawn shooting range in Virginia Beach. When my brother invited me to go shooting today, I advised him to avoid Superior (we have both used it many times before, even though it has gone downhill since the days A&P Arms was running it). We decided to go to the Lynnhaven Shooting Range.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable time, and though the prohibition against rapid-fire messed up my rhythm a bit, we managed to leisurely blow through around 300 rds over the course of 2-1/2 hours.

The staff was courteous and helpful, though the steady stream of customers meant we had to wait a minute for assistance. I look forward to shooting there again.

BTW, once you pass their quiz on the range rules they give you a card, good for up to a year, for future visits so you don't have to take the test each time.

They didn't have primers (who does?) and not much powder, but they had a ton of Berry's plated bullets in .45, .38, and 9mm.
