Where and when do I carry????
The answer is everywhere I go. Unless I'm in my home, I'm armed. It's better than American Express, less costly than gas and has never been unavailable when needed. And, fyi in my home I'm never more than 5 steps from a good time.

5 steps? In my house you cant swing a dead cat anywhere without getting hair and fleas on at least 8 guns...drives Young crazy when I try that...

Re: Where and when do I carry????
You must live in a really bad neighborhood...personally I think carrying in your house unnecessary unless you live in a war zone and then its time to un-ass the place. But I do remember a time in my younger days when I slept with a gun just because I liked the feel of it. The I discovered other things feel much nicer...zoom6zoom wrote:Same here, but I always have one on me even in the house.

I carry around the house most of the time. I often put it on after my shower and take it off before bed. Ah yes, way of life. My problem is I go too many places - like work - where they frown upon carrying. Now I rarely leave the house without a gun if I'm going elsewhere...gunderwood wrote:I carry around the house most of the time. I often put it on after my shower and take it off before bed. I always carry except at school. In fact I start up again next week, T-W-T so that will be 3 days I am unprotected. Kinda sucks when you think about it. Maybe I should mount a sturdy safe inside the cab.

I also carry all the time for the most part but when I can't then I am still armed as I was born with body parts that make and have been great weapons. A person that only has a firearm for protection is a person that needs protection in more way's then one.

I am carrying pretty much all the time everywhere I go..Had the experiences when younger when I slept with one,,crapped with one ,ate with one etc: etc; Only time I don;t carry now is when I have to take it off and get legal to drive through a non reciprcating state...Then right back on when legal again.. Is this a great country or what?!!!

Yes it is. Now if only you didn't have to take it off for certain states.VBshooter wrote:I am carrying pretty much all the time everywhere I go..Had the experiences when younger when I slept with one,,crapped with one ,ate with one etc: etc; Only time I don;t carry now is when I have to take it off and get legal to drive through a non reciprcating state...Then right back on when legal again.. No, I live in a pretty decent neighborhood. It used to be a pesthole but we took it back. To my way of thinking, prepared is prepared. Remember, nice neighborhoods are where the nice stuff is.

I too carry as often as I can, with the exceptions being schools and work.

Hey, if I lived down there a gun would be as common on me as britches...as a matter of fact the only time I dont carry a pistol when I'm down your way is when I'm toting a rifle...Vahunter wrote:zephyp wrote:You must live in a really bad neighborhood...personally I think carrying in your house unnecessary unless you live in a war zonezoom6zoom wrote:Same here, but I always have one on me even in the house.

Re: Where and when do I carry????
I drove a truck for almost 30 years and even before I had a CCW... I carried in my truck; against company policy and certainly against DOT and most state regulations. I traveled with a weapon in virtually every state and also Canada and even once into Mexico... I now know just how stupid that was. Had my gun been discovered in any of dozens of locations, I would now be sitting somewhere looking at a cinder block wall or worse. I guess at the time I just figured I just didn't want to be without it. I have not seen a particular need personally but you only have to pick up the paper or turn on the TV to get motivation.
I will tell you that I happen to have been sitting in a nearby restaurant in San Diego around 3 in the afternoon, in July, 1984, when that crazy dude killed over 20 people and I think wounded 20 more in that McDonalds restuarant. I was driving for Overnite Transportation at the time and myself and my driving partner witnessed the entire scenario and I can tell you that was a real wake up. Luckily for us, we had opted to eat at a nearby location and not the McDonalds. I will never forget that day. I retired from Overnite/UPS Freight in 2007 and their company policy still prohibits drivers from being armed, although I figure many do.
I have had a CCW/CHP for Virginia for many years but until recently have never regularly carried concealed. I had a discussion a few months ago with several friends who are involved with IDPA. I came to the conclusion that I did not want to be lying in a parking lot or in a Walmart on the floor bleeding out and thinking what a shame it is that... here I was with a legitimate, legal permit and had nothing to protect myself or even worse, my family, when some nut case went berserk and started shooting. Maybe this is paranoid but I just made the decision to start carrying. I am not a cowboy and still feel rather self conscious about it, but I carry anyway.

Re: Where and when do I carry????
I carry almost everywhere. If I am not carrying I feel like I am missing something. Like many of you, the only time I do not carry is when I go to DC or any other state that does not accept VA CCW. That will soon change though once I become a sworn in officer.

Re: Where and when do I carry????
That is why the old phrase "rather judged by 12 than carried by 6" originates from. While technically illegal in certain localities, the wisdom of the action is not something I am able to judge for you.speezack wrote:I drove a truck for almost 30 years and even before I had a CCW... Good for you. As you do it more, it will become more natural, kinda just like wearing a watch or shoes.speezack wrote:I have had a CCW/CHP for Virginia for many years but until recently have never regularly carried concealed.
