Hello, I have been looking at the different IWLA's around Marshll, VA. Front Royal and Winchester appear to have bylaws to only allow members within certain counties of which Fauquier is not one of them. I believe Prince William does allow membership from Fauquier. I have downloaded the Application but I need 2 Member sponsers to list on the application. Could I get 2 Member names with phone numbers so I may apply to the PW IWLA. I was hoping to send it in on the beginning of February, 2011. Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Just so you have a little idea of my background.

I also noticed The IWLA near Leesburg off of 15 is almost the same distance just in another direction and they seem to accept Fauquier memberships also. Is there anyone a member of this one and willing to sponser me?

Re: Prince William Izaak Walton League Members
I'm a member of the Loudoun IWLA. There is no sponsorship requirement. Basically you just fill out the membership application and show up at one of the meetings with a check, be voted in and then attend an orientation to show you around the ranges and give you the lock combinations. The web site is up to date, the membership page here http://www.loudouniwla.org/membership.html explains the process for joining.
One very big drawback-- the shooting ranges are not open on Sundays. Apparently that was the deal that was cut with the people who built homes close to the shooting range in order to give them a day of peace and quiet.

I did a little more checking around and I see PW now has a no FMJ Ammo rule. That's a problem since I have alot of that ammo. It is really strange about IWLA's locations...
From me there are 4 possible ones each with caveats....
PW - 36 miles / 50 min drive (no FMJ)
Loudon - 40 miles / 1 hr drive (No Sundays)
Warren - 40 miles / 55 min drive (Restricted membership)
Winchester - 48 miles / 47 min drive (Restricted membership)
Arlington / Fairfax - 37 miles / 48 min drive (Expensive dues)
Alexandria - 35 miles / 58 min drive (Ranges closed during hunting)
I am leaning towards Alexandria's IWLA now, near quantico. but I am still looking around. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know your thoughts or experience about these places.
