VGOF Mobile?
I noticed this site doesn't load to well on mobile devices. I have no idea what would be involved in this, but can a mobile site be created? Cost effectively off course. Just something light with mostly text that would run on most mobile devices: Ipod Touch, Iphone, PSP, (insert favorite smart phone). What do you think?

I have a Droid and it loads fine and relatively easy to use with the zoom feature but a mobile feature would be nice.

I have considered it in the past, and even worked on it a bit, but never got it done. I'll try to revisit this one soon.

Maybe if we asked Rick really nice to install and activate the Tapatalk plugin, we can use their app for the forums.
http://www.tapatalk.com/
Rick, it is free to activate the plugin.
iPhone and Android users.... there is a free app and a paid version ($2.99).
There are also Nokia and Blackberry versions.

Notwithstanding the iPOD, I'm suspicious of any company that makes a PC with only one mouse button and a disk drive needing a paper clip to perform ejections...older Mac users know what I mean...gunderwood wrote:Anything with a scroll bar doesn't work on my iPhone...thank you Steve.zephyp wrote:I have a Droid and it loads fine and relatively easy to use with the zoom feature but a mobile feature would be nice.

Re: VGOF Mobile?
I was too, but thought I'd get over my bigotry and try it out. Interesting, but not worth the hassle IMHO. I almost certainly won't be using an iPhone again. My biggest complaint is that you have to use iTunes to update the phones and I hate it with the passion of a thousand fiery suns! If you are an idiot and just want to plug your device in and don't care what it does to it, iTunes is your baby. However, both Kelly and I have phones so I have to be proactive to avoid it from completely messing up the phones...even then manual configuration doesn't always work!zephyp wrote:Notwithstanding the iPOD, I'm suspicious of any company that makes a PC with only one mouse button and a disk drive needing a paper clip to perform ejections...older Mac users know what I mean...gunderwood wrote:Anything with a scroll bar doesn't work on my iPhone...thank you Steve.zephyp wrote:I have a Droid and it loads fine and relatively easy to use with the zoom feature but a mobile feature would be nice.
For example, I configured the latest iTunes update to be 100% manual. No auto syncing, no syncing of anything including apps. I connect Kelly's phone and it starts syncing the apps. I switch to the app page and show Kelly that the don't sync apps box is checked, the apps are grayed out, but sure enough it is syncing apps.

I also tried giving Steve the bird and not using his stupid software. Guess what happens if you don't update your iPhone OS? The phone gets disabled! You can't do anything to it. The screen is blank, period. The only way to "fix" it is to plug into iTunes and update the OS. Once you do, it works fine again.
I'd be interesting in seeing the lawsuit when someone needed to make an emergency phone call, but couldn't because Apple/AT&T disabled their phone.

Re: VGOF Mobile?
I had the iPhone when it first came out. Went and paid the $500 or whatever it was back then. Hacked it, put in my t-mobile sim and cancelled the At&t contract.
after about 6 months, got tired of it and sold it on craigslist. Went back to my old school flip phone until t-mobile released the first android phone (the G1). Haven't looked back since.
@Rick - cool let us know after you have tested it out.

Re: VGOF Mobile?
Yes, I tolerate iTunes but keep a couple of utilities handy that dumps stuff off the iPOD back to disk. You can then do pretty much whatever you want with it. I also keep mine set for manual synchs and it works fine. I control synch for mine and Young's manually mainly because her's is only 16GB and cant hold everything in the library. Regarding the iPhone I highly recommend Droid and Verizon. It's a relatively mature environment now compared to a year ago. Having a Droid connected in 3G is like having a miniature PC in your hand and although there arent a bazillion apps for it there are plenty enough to do pretty much whatever you want. The big drawback to the Droid is you get to deal with the illities of Google rather than Apple...

Re: Re: VGOF Mobile?
I guess the stuff they added at the end of my post says it all. I purchased the tapatalk pro for $2.99. I might like it.allingeneral wrote:I just added this plugin. Re: VGOF Mobile?
In addition to tapatalk, I have implemented a "mobile style" that is used for mobile users. Pull up the forum from your mobile device and see if you like it.
For now it has a bit of an Apple I-phone look and feel. That may or may not receive an adjustment over time.
Let me know what you think!

I also suggest a link to allow to optionally view the standard version.allingeneral wrote:After some browsing, the first thing I miss is the newest posts link. I'll work on that another day...
