Handgun transportation to PA?

So I have my 1st handgun now, and I am visiting PA over the holidays, my grandparents have ample land on which I would like to do some target shooting with my brother. First of all is the shooting on private property legal in PA? Second, is the transportation legal? I don't travel on main highways and interstates the whole time, and I spend a minimal amount of time cutting through some scenic back roads through Maryland. So I guess my question(s) is/are is it legal to take my gun up there while cutting through Maryland and then through PA til I reach my grandparents, and is it legal for me to shoot a handgun on private property there? Please keep in mind I personally am still only 20, if that has any effect on the answers.

Federally, you're fine for transport of a firearm so long as it is unloaded and cased, and stored in an inaccessible part of the vehicle (ones without trunks have specific guidelines). Do not stop in Maryland. Don't take the long way. Go the most direct route and spend the least amount of time in the state as you possibly can.

As for whether you can shoot in PA, I think that would be up to local law/ordnance.

I'll add in MD ,,do not speed, they supplement the states income on the backs of out of state speeders and occasionally will have you unload everything in your vehicle to have a look if you answer some question the wrong way...

Plus one for all of the above stated information. I will only add that each county or town may have there own rule's about the discharge of a weapon on private property you would be better off by contacting the local law enforcement in the county or town that your Grand parent's live in.
