Come on, GS78, be nice. He's hoping he lands this job, and well wishes never hurt, whether you share the religious beliefs or not.

This crap is funny, I am not being "not-nice" I am being realistic. We have too much government, and it includes the county level. How many times have you driven by a highway crew with one guy working and five watching?

Thats where it starts. Nothing aginst Jim, but we cant all sign our comments with the "don't tread on me flag and then petiton God(of all beings) to intervene to get one more "watcher"... Its hypocrisy, which I understand that some here don't have a problem with.

And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.

GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
"When you pray, don't ramble like heathens who think they'll be heard if they talk a lot.

King James Bible
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Douay-Rheims Bible
And when you are praying, speak not much, as the heathens. For they think that in their much speaking they may be heard.

Darby Bible Translation
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as those who are of the nations: for they think they shall be heard through their much speaking.

English Revised Version
And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Webster's Bible Translation
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Weymouth New Testament
"And when praying, do not use needless repetitions as the Gentiles do, for they expect to be listened to because of their multitude of words.

World English Bible
In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.

Young's Literal Translation
'And -- praying -- ye may not use vain repetitions like the nations, for they think that in their much speaking they shall be heard,

For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26“Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27“And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? 28“And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, 29yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32“For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

34“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Jim, don't worry about the job. But also don't put God on the spot either....

..... really? how would you answer those who prayed for the relief from catastrophic illness that lead to death? they didn't have favor? didn't pray har enough? didn't have enough internet friends?
I truly believe God hears and answers all of our prayers. We just dont always get the answer we want. Bottom line IMHO is that He is in control no matter what happens.

And, let us not allow Jim's request for prayer break into a debate...create another thread for that one...

It is a shame Bill and I'm afraid he has left. Appears he was getting harassed via PM as well.

It never ceases to amaze me how some adults can turn into bullying children when religious beliefs come into the discussion. It's sad, it's embarrassing, and it's unnecessary.

Since this thread seems to no longer be needed, it is now locked.
