Compact 1911 mags
What are some good mags for a compact 1911? It's a Rock Island Armory compact if it matters. I've heard great things about Wilsom Combat, but good lord are they pricey! I've also heard good stuff from Chip Mcormick stuff too. Thoughts?

I like the WCs, but there are other good 1911 mags on the market. I would just buy one WC mag and see if it fixes any issues or how it works. Some guns are finicky and only like one type of mag.

The Kimber 7 round mags for the Officer model 1911 are very good, and cheaper than the McCormick's.
The Kimber mags are about $22 at my local gun shop. I've seen them go for a few dollars less online. They come in either stainless or black.

A good read I found because of this thread: http://how-i-did-it.org/magazines/feeding-time.html

By the way, the link to "controlled feed principles" (first link from that page) is a good read, too.

I just thought it was good reading, but since you've invested in that product how about a review after you've used it for a while.

Re: Compact 1911 mags
Well finally had a chance to use my new mags. Straight out of the box they feed some Winchester JHP's with very little fuss. Had a few FTF, and a weird stove pipe thing that I didn't get pictured. However after some break in it went away. They feed my Corbin Powrball easily. Pretty good investment i'd say.

Check out Trippresearch.com. They offer Cobra Mags which are very high quality. They are not cheap but have never failed in my 1911.
