Re: WTB 1st Handgun
The diameter of a .380 and a 9mm is the same... both use .355 diameter bullets, so the .5 " of additional height is probably due to the design - if the magazine was wider (longer, front to back), an LCP would hold 6+1 9mm cartridges as well... it's 9x17mm vs 9x19mm - the diameter is the same, it's the length of the cartridge that is different (among other things such as operating pressure, bullet weight, and the cartridge rim). The higher operating pressure of the 9mm would probably blow up an LCP barrel... hence, the same size firearm in 9mm would require substantial beefing up to withstand 9mm operating pressures.007Fitz wrote:Yea but I/we were mainly talking about 9mm or .40. The ruger lcp would only hold maybe 4 or 5 9mm bullets. It holds 6+1 .380, but that is a smaller bullet obviously. The next smallest gun that is single stack like the ruger lcp is (correct me if im wrong on that) and holds 9mm is about 4.1' tall and it holds 6+1. Thats an additional .5 inches of height needed to house the same number of bullets. Which is why pocket pistols generally aren't a topic when it comes to the caliber I am searching for. So i should have said I don't know any pocket pistols to name within the criteria I am searching for.

If budget is a concern and 9mm or 40 is your choice cal (Walmart stocks both in abundance & cheap) I'm going to say look at the S&W Sigma 9v or 40ve.
I bought one last September. It is as a CCW weapon. It was inexpensive and I have run a lot of rounds through it, at least 1000 and absolutely no problems whatsoever. The only thing I can say is the trigger pull is like a revolver, a bit hard, but since I'm used to a S&W 357 I didn't care. I bought a Crimson Trace Laser for it $h^%s and Giggles. Accurate right out of the box. The gun is inexpensive, the 40ve kicks a nice punch, conceals well, ammo is relatively cheap & plentiful and if something happens to it, it didn't cost me an arm & a leg!

Yes, that was a pretty dumb mistake. I've learned to take the view that we all make them, but what matters is how we handle them. Each mistake should be a chance learn and improve.zephyp wrote:Palladin wrote:I just took you off the pedestal...gunderwood wrote:![]()

I figured you were just half asleep when you posted it... I've learned quite a bit from your posts, so I'm glad Palladin is keeping you on the pedestal! I think you are implying that politicians > morons...
I'm pretty sure that is a false statement for most of them.
