a newbie from Stuart
saying hello, just recently found this forum. been into & out of the gun scene for more years than I care to think of. When a small 22 rifle was larger than me.
just getting back into & got paper work today to get my concealed permit renewed, it expired in April of 2008 but havent really carried since a couple years before that.
I am suprised to see so many people relatively local, I was browsing before I signed up. I live in Stuart area, but am all over the mountains from Martinsville to Danville, to Roanoke, occasionally towards Bedford, & over to Galax all the time.
I have enjoyed shooting all my life, I have some land thats 1 mile off the road & between 1 & 2 miles from any residence, used to target practice, & had days I would go through 1,000+ rounds, but I also used to reload, I havent done that in 10+ years, man the price of ammo today!
my main gun I carry when I travel is a nickle plated Taurus 44 special snub nose with a ported barrel. when I get my permit renewed I may start looking for a "new" gun I dont know what exactly I will be looking for? a 38 special, alloy frame, I cant remember if ejector was shouded or not? short underlug normal hammer not like the modern things I see today. my mom had one when I grew up & loved it, but she sold it when my dad bought a RG 38, said we didnt need but 1 & poof she sold hers. I havent seen it since around 1984, I think thats when she sold it. I still have my dads old RG. but thats a piece of junk! I think hers was a S&W. anyone have any ideas? it was probably bought in the mid 1970s.
once upon a time I had a decent sized collection, but traded off all but a small handful over the last 10 years. I guess I am wanting to start building again eventually as money allows.
Thanks.
Randy

Hey, neighbor!
I'm in Floyd. You need to come on up one day and shoot with me. I have a private range on my place and nothin' would suit me better than to have some company.

Lord, please protect us today from having to use deadly force.
