Hello all
Just moved to VA from AZ a little over a month ago and the itch to go shooting is killing me. I'm in Charlottesville and have cruised around the site looking for ranges for the last hour or so. I know Rivanna is near by, but I got spoiled out in AZ as a range master and the public ranges at the Chester F Phelps Area and West Side shooting range seem to be more my speed.
Just checking to see if they are even still in operation (newest post I saw discussing them was back in April) and what all I need to bring. I'm thinking, weapon, ammo, cardboard, targets, clothes pins, and all the standard safety gear per usual (ears/eyes).
Anything I'm missing that you guys see?
Thanks in advance and glad to find a VA shooting forum so I can figure this screwy state out...how can a road have 4 different names....seriously?:)
Thanks
Eric

That's nothing, here in Newport News we have 4 different roads with the same name!towerofpower93 wrote:...how can a road have 4 different names....seriously?:)
As to your questions, look here http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/hunting/shootingranges.asp

This site has a search by zip feature that I like. It lists all types of target shooting locations and the mileage from a zip code (up to 120 miles if desired), plus it has hot links for many shooting ranges/locations.

Welcome to VA.
You are more than welcome to join the Staunton "Shoot N' Greet" events when they happen (one's coming up at the end of November)
Details are at the webpage

Of course if you want to make the trip at any time the Hite Hollow range is always open.
