Now there is an idea....
You can get a railed handguard replacement and put a light on it, too. I've put mine in a laptop back pack with several magazines. The weight of the ammo/mags/rifle mimic the weight of a laptop. Just something to think about

@Jim - I do sometimes think about what would happen if I were stuck on 395 and a dozen terrorists jumped out of a panel truck,,,

With all of those stickers, government propaganda has me thinking your truck was modified with RPGs and such!

Dont I wish...a dozen terrorists with battle rifles carrying nothing but full mags and grenades could IMO cause enough damage/terror by shooting up a traffic jam on 395 to paralyze the entire region for a couple of months...

Btw, my stickers dont make me a target for terrorists...really not anybody because most the obvious progressives avoid me on the road... :hysterical: I do get an occassional thumbs up...I've only had one or two incidents where someone made a scene and that was only as they sped by if I was turning off somewhere...I've also had a couple folks literally jump out of their vehicle at red lights and run over just to tell me how much they like my stickers...

That could indeed be the case and I've never thought about it. I do have the sense to know that folks on the road will most likely leave me alone...

According to Young they are. She thinks that I need a new truck merely because its got over 160k on the odometer. I keep pointing to the Toyota logo and telling her to wait at least another 90,000 miles or 500 more trips to Keysville...

Plus that more stuff on my belt, one more thing that could get caught on something. However carrying one extra magazine isn't that big a difference. Just wondering what other peopleare doing.
With the revolver I sometimes carried 1 speed loader but with the semi, I never did. I always felt the same as you that the chances of getting into a firefight requiring more ammo than my magazine was slim.
Then someone reminded me that, unlike using a wheel gun, magazines do fail. If that were to happen I would be carrying a club, not a gun. Image

I wear it daily & no one has to know, until the day "crap happens"

Fair point. However, shouldn't you know your equipment? I know I don't carry one magazine because its finnicky. I always carry the one that never gives me issues.

Anything mechanical will break down at the worst possible time. I think the phrase, "Two is one and one is none" is appropriate here. Don't get caught with your pants down, carry an extra magazine.

BTW, I've had "reliable" magazines go stupid during a match.

If that were the case then you make a good case to carry 2 weapons and that would mean a total of 4 magazines. Where would it stop.

Agree, but I don't always do it...particularly for pocket rockets like the LCP.

ALWAYS. There is no such thing as too much ammunition at the end of a gunfight, but there is such a thing as not enough. If I carry a gun, there are two reload mags on the other side. And usually a second gun.

The "if you can't solve the problem in 8 rounds" is pretty cold comfort if you have multiple adversaries or in real world conditions where not every round hits the X ring every time.

You carry a pistol because you can't carry a rifle around. And for an UNKNOWN adversary because you cannot see the future. Why would you NOT want to carry the maximum firepower allowable? This is to say, occasionally circumstances limit J-frame only, but not as a matter of habit.

Personally, I carry my sidearm with one extra magazine. That gives me 15 rounds of 9mm black talons, or if I carry my glock 22C I carry a full mag of black talon (15rds) and one extra mag (15rds) plus the one thats cocked and locked. If I carry my S&W .38 spcl its loaded with black talons and I have two speed loaders to accompany it. So I think it's safe to say, yes I carry extra ammo with me at all times. I haven't needed it in quite a while, but you never know these days. ps. a little 380 backup with corbon +p is a nice light rig as well. :lovegunporn:

I carry at least mags with me where ever I go...I learned a while ago in a far off that smells of trash and BO that having extra ammo is better than having extra food...small arms and explosives go farther in saving my butt than that cheese ravioli MRE!!! I have three mags on me and one in the firearm I carry which ever one I decide to carry on a particular day! I also throw my rifle and go bag in the truck most days but only if I am going to somewhere like downtown, I am of the opinion that chance favors those who are prepared...I guess it's the same mentality that forces me to carry a med kit and extra batteries and cold weather clothing and general maintenance tools etc. in my truck. On a side note I also carry my ghillie suit in my truck box...you never know when you may need to stalk a coyote or fox...HAHAHAHA!
