Is the price too high?

Post by watindes »

Hello, I am new to the forum, I am a CCW permit holder and firearm enthusiast I have had to sell many of my guns to fund a house purchase and now I am starting to get back into things. My wife is buying me good CCW pistol and I have heard great reviews on the Ruger LCP .380 and I have one on layaway at a local store, they want $319+tax for the little gun and I was wondering if that was too high. I know I could get a better deal at a show but I need layaway now just wondering if anyone had any leads. My wife is planning on getting her CCW and this is a gun we are both happy and comfortable with so we can share it.

Look forward to reading all the posts on this site and thank you,

Sometimes I've seen them for $299, but $319 isn't a ripoff. Ask the shop if they would maybe make a package deal on a holster and ammo.

Have you actually held, manipulated, or shot the RCP? I I was not impressed with it at all when I evaluated .380 pocket pistols a few months ago. The only "new" pocket .380 that I liked was the Sig P238. However, it's over twice the price of the RCP.

+1 shoot it first, The LCP is a rough little beast for most folks.

+1 again - but shoot a few. IMO, the LCP feels better than my friends Sig P232- the P232 is a blow-back design and the LCP is a locked-breech design... My LCP is half the weight of his, and while it can sting the trigger finger a little - the Sig can start bruising the web of your hand... I like the LCP just fine and carry it frequently.

I've seen them for $249 at a couple of the shows. Shop around.

I need the layaway, and the price is under $350 which is as high as I can go now. I shot the KelTec thats similar without the clip extension which is the reason I like the Ruger for comfort it the KelTec was ok for me.

That sounds reasonable, When I was shopping for one I think the cheapest I found was around $280. Have you considered the Bersa Thunder 380. You can find them easily for under $300 and I like the features and the feel better. Just my opinion but the Ruger was too small and more difficult to control in my case but we're all different.
