Like Charlie, I am who I am. Again, like Charlie, I'm retired, old and grumpy and if you don't like my view point, fine. When I'm firmly convicted on a given subject, I'm gonna speak my mind. If you don't like what I say, you can ask me to leave or you can leave. But I'm not gonna back down from my convictions because I might "offend" somebody.
Try bein' five foot two in a six foot world. You got any idea how many times I've been insulted because of my stature? You think those gas relief ports cared that it bothered me? I been puttin' up with that $#!t for 58 years.
Nope, I ain't gonna hold my tongue or back down from what I believe.
The only difference between Juan Williams and EVERYBODY ELSE that flies is, Juan spoke his mind. Everybody else is too scared to say what they think because it might "offend" somebody.
Horse feathers.
I'm done. Y'all can run me off if ya' wanna', but I'm still gonna think like I do.
Edit: This full auto diatribe was fired before I got my coffee this morning.

I am right there with you and all this PC BS is not for me nor will I bow to it.

Though I may disagree with Juan William's stances on certain issues, I find him to be an honorable and fine debater, and never disrespectful to the opposing side.
NPR fired him for his remarks as "opinion", what he stated was his "FEELINGS", and countered how we should "...work thru those feelings..."
In an interview following his firing, the NPR CEO was insulting, and degrading to Juan Williams, and behaved in a manner unbefitting someone who supposedly represents the public.
In truth? I think she's following orders from George Soros, who donated over a million dollars, and she's a few choice words that I'm sure are filtered, and rhyme with "DITCH", and "BILLY BLUNT".
I've only been retired about 7 months now DK. I first heard the acronym OCO applied to DoD funding dollars about two years ago. I asked what the hell OCO meant. I was floored when I heard the answer. Contingency operation -- yea, right!

Me, not so much - I suspect that future attacks will come from people that look a lot like us. They're not going to stand out.
Well, I would gladly take a bet on this subject with you, Chauncey. I'll even give you odds. How does 4:1 sound to you? My Jackson to your Lincoln that the next domestic terrorist attack, either foiled or "successful" is carried out by someone with a darker complexion than a caucasian. I get another $5 if they are also male, muslim and between the ages of 25-45. Rick shall serve as arbiter. [/url]
I think you missed chfaunce's point entirely. The next attack on the USA may be very well committed by a Muslim between 24-45, but he (or she) will blend in to the environment. The terrorist won't be wearing a turban and robes with a beard (idiotic American stereotype). Dressed in a suit, or blue jeans and t-shirt, and innocuous. He or she will likely not be a swarthy Near Eastern male, but an Indonesian, or Filipino, or African, or even Caucasian.
You also can not verify that bet with the "foiled" part. Not all attempted attacks are reported in the news.
There's a reason Israelis talk to everyone going into a crowded restaurant or night club. They want to hear the way they speak, the accent, see if they are nervous, because you just can not tell that someone is a terrorist by looks alone.
As to the original post, I think Mr Williams has every right to say he feels cautious and wary. He also had to be aware that as an employee of NPR that he has to abide by their rules. Freedom ain't free when you're working for someone. On the other hand, if you hire a talking head, you're playing with fire.
Why have all the VGOF resident libtrolls gone all cricket up in here? Perhaps the blatant circumstances are too much for even the most skilled apologists/idealogues to make a half-hearted attempt at defending today's hypocritical left loon statists.

I'm nominating that for understatement of the month. Don't worry, with Mike, that happens frequently. Selective comprehension n' all.
What, you mean all terrorists aren't brown-skinned towel heads? I am shocked. SHOCKED! I call bullsh*t. You must hate America for saying such an outrageous thing. (snark alert!)
Mindflayer, obviously, an (early) foiled attack will not be reported, so that will obviously not count. It is not like this is a rare enough occurance that we can't have this all resolved before Jebus' birthday.
I did not miss Chauncey's point. I don't think he meant that the next attacker would be wearing non-muslim garb. They have all worn non-muslim garb. The only time a turban had a fuse sticking out was in the Dutch cartoons. That is just dumb.
Mr. Williams also was dumb to suggest that someone who is currently on a terrorist mission would wear stereotypical muzzie gear. The only time I can recall such a situation was the day US Airways instantly became the safest airline in the US. The muzzies declared a boycott of US Airways for their treatment of the MSP Flying Imams. If you recall, this was an attempt to create a controversy/bait our populace by their blatant and intentionally suspicious mega muzzie behavior including: loud, repeated group prayers in the boarding area, moving seats in an apparent strategic fashion, demanding seat belt extenders (great improvised weapon) even though none of them were fat on hummus, as well as other on board shenanigans.
THEY did dress up like some Halloween costumed nefarious stereotype, and they had no plans to create a terror event. All the rest, who actually lit their shoes, underroos, or went all Puerto Rican with a box cutter dressed in innocuous American style clothing. As usual, our liberal mindset representative is discussing race. So far, I believe we have had hispanics of American residence, negroes of Carribean or African origin and various Asians. There are caucasian appearing Al Queda converts (degenerates), but they have yet been given such a high profile/risky task as the others have. It could happen, but I am willing to put money on its unlikelyhood. Chauncey is not. He prefers to just blab on and on with nothing of substance to back him up, or risk his own Obamabux on his claims.
Because it could happen, and it has been proven, I do not advocate appearance/racial profiling (but like enhanced interrogations, I am against their prohibition). Behavioral profiling is much more effective. Problem is, the level of intelligence and training is more than you will find in your basic entry level TSA (Thousands Standing Around) former burger flipper.

This.
Well I addressed just this statement, child. It just takes more time to foment and type intelligent discourse than to sit on one's arse and toss "snarky" brickbats. Get a latte to sip on whilst you chew on my response for a bit. I emboldened the relevant line, so you don't need more than one try to process it.
I eagerly await your next knee-jerk pejorative.

Is it even possible for you to begin to engage any of my ideas or do you just traffic in snark? It hasn't happened yet.
Your examples are nicknames and they provide amusement, to myself at least. (All in good fun as CowboyT says) They are hardly in the same vein or severity as your attempts to label myself as you have. Again, I am fine with it, as only true statements would bother me. It is largely illustrative of your lack of either imagination or supportive facts to support your arguments.

Williams said nothing that was politcally incorrect, I was watching the program as it aired. Soros got his panties in a bunch, and thats all it took. Williams said on GMA this am , that the "new" management tean at NPR had a problem with him and his FOX news working arrangement. Mora would have been next to go, except for the huge dust cloud those idiots running NPR have created will not allow that firing to go forward ...yet.
....PC has nothing to do with "sparing" the feelings of the " precievedvictims" and everything to do with controlling the speech of anyone who disagrees with the "victims".
I heard that the new definition of a Racist is anyone winning an argument with a Liberal, and thats about the size of it. PC is a tool of the left, nothing more. You choose to be controlled by it. I refuse to be, always have refused it, and do not regret refusing to play those silly games.
As for FOX "standing up for Juan" as someone here quipped, I think a 2 million dollar contract will go a long way to help Mr.Williams recoup his losses from NPR. I am sure he will go on to write a best seller about the way the left wing kooks cut his throat, and he even managed to get a nationwide shot in on the left and their hypocrisy this morning with stepanopolous on GMA.....Bill O'Rielly told him "this will be the best thing that ever happened to you ,juan"....

Did she really say she hoped Jesse Helms or his grandchildren got AIDS? You got any source for this? I have listened to NPR for a while, but if you got a source for this (we know she's still with NPR), I will stop listening to them.
But this isn't the first time the NPR diva has publicly wished death on a conservative. "I think he ought to be worried about what's going on in the Good Lord's mind," she said of Senator Jesse Helms in 1995, "because if there is retributive justice, he'll get AIDS from a transfusion, or one of his grandchildren will."
Sigh. The Far Left and the Far Right need to both be smacked in the head.
