Finally got a Sig P238, however..............

It only came with one magazine so I feel like I got ripped off and replacement magazines are expensive. Seen too many places with factory original mags at 60 bucks or more.

Also I spent the day at the range and the gun jumps even more than my Ruger LCP. I think I will need an extended mag with pinky rest. Anybody know a good place to get one? Or two? Already have a good holster with room to spare in my pocket.

In that sense the LCP is better cuz theres more after market magazines & butt plates available. But the Sig has a couple more lasers and other slide & body add-ons, not to mention interchangeable grips.

As for the magazines Sig's aren't cheap but they are usually available near me for $35-50 depending on model and whether it's stainless or not. $60 sounds too high to me...

Rumor is that all Sigs should be shipping with two mags. If you only got one, either there was an oversight during packaging or someone's swiping mags at the distributor or retail level.

Contact Sig and see what they say.

I will contact them. According to the sticker on the box, that gun was either made or sold on the 4th of October.

The new SIG SAUER P238 is shipped in a lockable hard case with one 6 round magazine.

Additional magazines can be purchased from that site for $44. They had some promotional sales on magazines, but I don't know if that is still in effect.

I called the hotline, and they said I only get one mag.
No biggie.

Also, having put 200 rounds through it at the range, and 250 through my Ruger LCP, I have learned a few things. First, the P238 is much more comfortable and accurate for range practice. 2nd, for carrying I feel much better with a safety-free striker gun using a heavy trigger and DAO. SAO and manual safety means I need to manually cock the hammer and flip the safety to shoot. In an emergency its too much stuff to worry about or go wrong.
Since I can keep my hands under control I'm not too worried about brushing a delicate trigger while drawing it. But I still prefer a heavier trigger for shooting. After 250 rounds I've learned to control my reflexes and not over or under compensate. And with firing both pocket pistols so much I damn sure know to not limp-wrist them.

It was a thought. Isn't that a "cocked and locked" type firearm? You shouldn't have to drop safety AND cock it.

I think the 238 is like a baby 1911, which is why I am confused by:

I don't think you can do both. On a 1911 in order to decock it you have to pull the trigger and ease the hammer down (an anxious moment for me when I had to do it) or carry it cocked and safety on. I know on the 1911 you can't put the safety on with the hammer down.

Another Sig that sounds more like what you would want is the 232:

versus the 238's:
7 1/2 to 8 1/2 lbs SAO trigger pull, frame mounted safety, 6 round magazine, 15.2 ounces

If you can't tell, I am a Sig fan, I won't insult Glocks, Smith and Wessons or even Berettas. I find the Sigs are just more comfortable in my hands. I will never own that compact a pistol myself, my hands are way to big for small pistols.
