What is going on at Silver Eagle Range

Their website says that they are closed for renovations. Anyone know anything about this? I have seen many businesses "close for renovations" that never reopened again.

If there is not something at least along the lines of an ownership change afoot, then Silver Eagle Group's PR information, almost total lack of actually, regarding the renovation and closing is some of the worst I've seen. I too am curious about what's up.

They sent out an email to their members, but that is all.

It is very odd. The register sales section was cordoned off with metal shelving. That whole area looked like it was going to be gutted. Re-reading the email on the subject from them on 9/3, it almost sounds like they will be adding a range so that they can add new members.

Hey guys,sorry for the delay in response... everyone here has been recruited to the manual labor force to get everything done faster(hence my lack of response)! We aren't shutting down and we aren't changing ownership, just literally renovating the facility. We've had an increase in the demand for training, so the former merchandise, classroom and cafe area are getting stripped down and "renovated" into more training space, which will include a new wall being put up where the bathroom hall and the merchandise area meet. Merchandise is moving up front... I'll post a teaser pic of the new counter space.

next weeks part of those repairs will involve draining the entire system. So to answer part of one post, we aren't getting a new range, but a new Merchandise area and the ranges fixed up. Send me your questions or the rumors you've heard and I'll give you the facts.

SEG is a very nice facility; I'm very glad to hear it's going to be back in operation.

We're hoping to be back up and operational around the 6th of October... (keep asking the questions guys, you're getting the real inside scoop here)... just depends on how draining and refilling the backstop goes.

This is good news. NoVA needs all the gun ranges it can get. I hope the IDPA match registrations go up soon.
