Who has ammo?

Post by AppleaDay »

Which stores have ammo? I've been trying to find bulk packs of .22LR especially and maybe some .38spl but either it doesn't exist or the price is so ridiculous I can't bring myself to shell out that much.
So if you've seen anyplace stocking ammo sing out.

All I can suggest is stopping in different stores in hopes of catching them with a recent delivery. I happened into a Dick's a couple of weeks ago and they had just received a delivery, most of it was sitting on the counter still in cases. I was told it would all be gone by the next morning. Assuming that's true then posting who has ammo won't help much, it'll likely be gone by the time anyone could react.

If it's 22LR you're looking for, try Dick's at Town Center (Independence & Columbus St). When I was there last week, they still had several boxes on the shelf.

I routinely hit the WM's in Waynesboro, C'ville and Staunton. Do fairly well finding bulk 22LR. KMART has the Remington but charge about 18/box. I bought 100 rounds of 38 spl in Staunton on Good Friday; the last time I have found the cheap bulk.

Dicks' in C'ville ain't got nothin'.

I kept calling and calling around until I caught the local Wally World with a shipment. Persistence pays off sometimes.

Cabela's has 9mm JHP in bulk and 223. The bulk ammo also comes with a dry box.

9mm link for $219/600

223 link for $265/600

They are reporting a 1-2 week backorder on 9mm FMJ and 45 FMJ.

Apologies. I put them in my cart to check availability but no one else can see my cart

All of the 45acp ammo I add to my cart says "Backorder - 1-2 weeks to ship this product....". As much as I'd like to believe that, it does seem a little odd that they can get anything I want in only 1 - 2 weeks. I have handgun ammo on backorder now that's still three months out before delivery.

Cabela's will ship in that time. I've gotten ammo in 10 days after ordering when it said 1-2 weeks.

I'm waiting on .380 ammo (almost impossible to find) from Cabelas that's had the backorder date changed 3 times - in fact, they even raised the price on it since I put it in my order, and I just got an email that said to keep the backordered order, I have to call them to confirm i still want it or they're gonna cancel.

I don't live in the TIdewater Area - but if you're gonna order online, give this site a whirl -

http://www.ammoengine.com

I've used it to track prices for a while, and for 9mm, .40 and .45, you should be able to find some decent stuff in stock if you check often enough...

Also try:

Ammo to go - good service and fast shipping. Tad expensive but they got some ammo.

Double Tap - I haven't tried these guys yet but have heard good things:

Cabela's 45 is all back ordered. They do have 9mm JHP and 223 in stock. I'm leaving tomorrow for Dayton and get to drive by one of their super stores. [I see a trip delay in my future  .] Last time I "drove by" I picked up some decent 223. I'm praying they have primers or powder but am not optimistic.

AmmoEngine scans a list of stores for current inventory/prices.... it's easier than looking at ten different stores every day to see if anything has changed. Cabelas, DoubleTap, AmmoToGo, Wideners and Ga Arms are a few of the stores they scan....

DoubleTap is good stuff, I carry it in an LCP, it's got some heat on it... Can't speak for their .45 ammo but I would imagine it's just as good as their other ammo...

Thanks CCFan! Haven't heard of Ammo Engine but now have it bookmarked. I ordered 600 rounds of 9mm FMJ from Cabela's couple of weeks ago and they reported 1-2 weeks back order. Last night they sent me an update - another 2 weeks. Ugh.

On a much brighter note my fiance and I were talking to a respected friend of ours yesterday who remarked how much ammo he had stuck away - much more than me - and said you can never have enough. My fiance looked at me with a raised eyebrow. I milked his comment a little since every time she sees me with more ammo she always asks "Baby, don't you have enough?"

Greentops had a good supply yesterday when I was in. The price wasn't even way out of line in today's market (21-22 bucks for 525 round Federal bulk pack). I started to pick up some 22 but I figured I've got 5-6,000 rounds. Why bother.

I think we are slowly starting to see it appear again in retail stores. I know that I was in a WalMart near me recently and it had alot of ammo... I purchased quite a bit of the .223 bulk packs.

I stopped by the Dick's in VA Beach last Friday, and all they had was one box of 9mm on the shelf. But they did have loads of shotgun ammo for sale.
