Just finished my reloading area

Post by nickf829 »

By reloading area, I mean reloading closet. It's unfortunate that I'm limited to just a standard closet when some of the others I've seen on here look more like reloading compounds, but this will have to do for now. I put in a Hornady Lock N Load progressive press and used RCBS components everywhere else. My tumbler is outside, something about lead dust from fired primers floating around a small closet area doesn't really do it for me, so I leave that outside.

I used a standard sized closet in my home office that was full of nothing but junk, then I lined it with aromatic cedar planks(to help with humidity/moisture and it smells good and looks like a cabin) then built a reloading bench and shelves from 2x4's and birch ply, and anythign that was just pine I covered/veneered in birch 1/4" ply then stained everything with 3 coats of Cabot Cherry Stain and 3 coats of Cabot Polyurethane(5 coats on the benchtop). I think it turned out OK, it was a learning experience/project more than anything. Heres a few pics, sorry for the crap shots but I'm just learning how to use my new wide angle adapter.

Thanks. Call it my first venture in furniture building. Hopefully I can add a roll out birch cabinet once I get a few other projects finished around the house

Thanks for the compliments. I uploaded some pics I took throughout my build, maybe it can give somebody some ideas for when they build their bench.

Nicely done!! You can close the doors, and no one is the wiser, and you can reload in the comfort of your home. Nice. Mine is in the garage, and in the middle of summer and winter it gets misable. I gotta move it down to the basement some day.

Well if it gets cold in the garage, I recomend the 5 pack of these halogen puck lights from home depot. They aren't permanent, and put off a ton of heat (less than a xenon though). Even if you don't need extra light, just use them for the warmth haha.
