This is about as bigoted as it gets, folks. I'm 100% pro-2A, nor do I like Obama, I'm behind the VCDL booth at the shows every chance I get, and even
I find your bigotry offensive!
Sadly, I hear this kind of junk far too often on gun forums, at gun shows, heck, practically anywhere there's a good-sized pro-gun crowd.
I don't give a rat's posterior if someone's a Muslim. I see no more problem with someone swearing into Congress on the Koran (Alexander Hamilton's, might I add), than I do with someone doing the exact same thing on the Christian Bible or the Jewish Torah or any other religious book. This is America, folks, and we have something called religious freedom here. You would do well to remember that a lot more than you apparently are.
And as for Obama being a Muslim...well, as Colin Powell put it,
"...the really right answer is, what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer's no, that's not America. Is there something wrong with some seven-year-old Muslim-American kid believing that he or she could be president? Yet, I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion, 'He's a Muslim and he might be associated with terrorists.' This is not the way we should be doing it in America."
What you're saying here with these anti-Muslim, or anti-AnyOtherReligionButChristianity rants that I hear way too often, is un-American, and if you're really true Americans, you should be ashamed of yourselves for it.
Well said, Cowboy.
Though, I will say that I view religious tolerance and the 2a as separate issues. So, these types of opinions (and in some cases, rantings) really have no impact on my support of the 2nd Amendment. I'll stand up for that as much as I'll stand up for the 1st Amendment. And, regardless of what I may think of things or other's opinions on things, I recognize that the right of free speech is not to be infringed just as the right to keep and bear arms is not to be infringed upon. I will stand up for the entire Constitution.
The irony of this entire thread is that the first Europeans to inhabit this country (I'm thinking post-Columbus - more Mayflower / Plymouth Rock immigrants) embarked on their voyage here (largely) to escape religous persecution, and here we are now doing the persecuting. Irony: It just happens.
And, yes, I also know that the media does a fine job of portraying the Muslims as dirty, suicide vest wearing, Jesus killing extremists who are just waiting to murder us in our sleep, but they're not all that way. Every group has their extremist population. There are "Christian" extremists, too.
Disclaimer: I'm not a Liberal, I'm not a minority (yet!), and I'm not a true Conservative. I'm happily somewhere in the middle.
Ok, off to get some more popcorn!
