Re: Response to someone with a knife
@Bill - I agree however its not always expedient to carry a gun where I live and work...the feds frown on that. A decent knife and a little know how makes a guy feel just a wee bit warmer on the inside...
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

This is where some martial arts, and lots of practice with it, can come in handy. If you can temporarily knock him down on his ass, he'll get up again, sure, but that gives you time to go for your gun and end it right there.

I have been involved in martial arts for twenty some years and I will tell you that if someone comes at me with a knife, I will not merely knock them down, I will disable them to the extent that they will need a medi-vac to survive. I agree martial arts is a really good backup, but you have to be serious about it. Serious as cancer.CowboyT wrote:This is where some martial arts, and lots of practice with it, can come in handy. Re: Response to someone with a knife
ok guys, just getting back into town here so I apologize for not responding sooner. I was away for the 4th of July holiday in S.C. I only checked in on the forum while on vacation long enough to read some nasty pm's, so you'll have to forgive me for not wanting to ruin my vacation with someone's nasty attitude. I was actually not even going to continue reading this thread since you have obviously all heard from someone who knows it all.
With that said, I'll answer the question posed to me. In my experience, the person who knows what to do with a knife holds it by the grip with the blade pointed downward. Now instead of thrusting it down on top of someone with that overhand grip, the more dangerous way to use it is by holding the back of the blade closer to your wrist and slashing sideways. If I can find a pic online, I'll add that later to demonstrate. If someone has a more specific question, please pm me and I'll be happy to answer.

Why do you keep insisting on acting like an ass? You are only making yourself look bad with this continued tirade.SgtBill wrote:Boy I feel better now. How to hold a fighting knife has been explaned in detail, oh that's right it already was. Sorry Jimmy you'r a day late and a dollar short.

Re: Response to someone with a knife
Well, I just have to jump in on this one. Knowing Bill personally I can honestly assert that he can back up anything he says and I've never seen him look bad. If I could be half the man he is I'd be one happy (and very fortunate) guy. If you've not had the pleasure of meeting him in person then you are definitely missing out and selling yourself short...ProShooter wrote:Why do you keep insisting on acting like an ass? Thank's DK, now my head won't fit through the door of the house or garage. How is Young doing. You can be the first on the board to know that I will be a Grandpop again in March. My daughter Jenny informed us a few day's ago.
P.S. I did meet Jimmy (Pro Shooter)at one of the Richmond gun show's last spring when I went with Henry (Va. Hunter).

Hey Bill. If I were Henry I might say your head probably didnt fit before...
Young is doing fine and hope you and Sharon are too. Congrats on the new grandbaby. I hope mom is doing well and know you are all looking forward to the new addition. At one point in my life I would have envied someone like you. Now its simply admiration and the hope that some might rub off...

Late to the party as usual, nothing pertinent to add. I just wanted to say that the Feds at the big 5 sided building will only allow a knife of 2.5 inches max., just FYI.

Yes and since the moron storm trooped the metro entrance the guards sometimes now pleasure themselves by frisking and wanding regular badge holders.40shooter wrote:Late to the party as usual, nothing pertinent to add.
