Sirs,
I recently had some dealings with this publication that I think might benefit others. I received an offer in the mail for a "Free Issue" of Gun Tests magazine. Having subscribed a few years ago, I though I would send in the postcard and see if anything had changed.
I received my issue shortly after sending in the card. Well, not much had changed. Since I have little use for reviews of shotguns costing many thousands of dollars, I decided not to send in the attached subscription card.
Approximately one month later, I began receiving letters from North Shore Agency, P.O. Box 9205, Old Beth Page, NY 11804 claiming they are trying to collect payment for a
subscription to Gun Tests. The letters threatened collections etc. I thought this might be a scam and looked up North Shore on the web. WOW! Multiple complaints and investigations alleging false subscriptions and suspect methods.
I contacted gun tests via e-mail and corresponded with Tanja Bethea (TBethea@belvoir.com). I asked Ms. Bethea if this was a scam and, if so, how did a criminal outfit like North Shore know I had a subscription to Gun Tests. Ms. Bethea replied she "canceled the account and cleared this matter up with North Shore as well". This indicated, at least to me, Gun Tests has made a conscious business decision to utilize North Shore.
Please save yourself the trouble. I should have known that there is no such thing as a "Free Issue". Googling North Shore Agency will link you to several others that experienced similar problems.
Sincerly
J.W.

Re: Gun Tests Magazine
I think I just subscribed to this publication. I caint remember, cause there is a similar title out there.
I hope it is not just high end guns, cause I don't own any and don't intend to. This seems to be your opinion, yes?

tweaker,
some issues were OK and others were filled w/ weapons the regular guy will never afford. my free issue contained a comparison of pricey over under shotguns
my issue w/ these folks is advertising a "free" issue and then using pressure tactics to get you to pay a phony bill.

Re: Gun Tests Magazine
My issue with these outfits is they offer a free issue or free sample then in the fine print you don't see or can't read place; You will be charged $xx.xx if order not canceled in X days. They know most people won't see that information.onemoreround wrote:tweaker,

Just got 1st issue. A decent publication.
I was able to get access to their archives now, too. That was helpful.

Re: Gun Tests Magazine
I just got their advertisement in the mail.
Free anything=fishy. Ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
They touted how they were just chock full of professional shooters and then mentioned that thier Makarov ejected its safety and firing pin after 25 rounds. Anybody stupid enough to screw up the safety on a Makarov shoudn't be crossing the street without parental supervision.
I'm sure as night time not going to take their advice on buying a gun.
