Indeed, a great time. The only problem was it was too hot to shoot...seriously. Young took a bunch of pics and I'll post later.

But first -- big thanks to Bill and Sharon for hosting...Henry for cooking chicken...Tweaker for the homebrew...Glen for the lemonchess pie...Rich for breakfast...hope I didnt miss anything important...everyone else for fellowship and good conversation.

Was good to meet everyone and put a face to names...also good to see Bill Jr again...

And to those of you who missed the fire pit conversation...well, you missed it...

A special thanks to Sharon for outstanding hospitality, coffee, and iced tea...
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

I have always felt that great conversations happen around a campfire, I love that little portable fire pit. I take it whenever we go camping or even to a late night party. There is just something about fire that gets people to want to relax. The best thing is that it's easy to pack up the next day and throw it in the truck. It was good camping with you guys and getting to know you all better.

Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.

Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.

What a really great gathering this past weekend. I love to be with people who share my passion; which has been polished since I was a little boy (2yrs) I always think of myself as the kid with bore cleaner in my blood. The smell of gunpowder goes way back, my fathers shooting matches, the atlantic city police dept shooting range, cumberland riflemen, the basement reloading ammo, sitting around learning sighting dope and conditions and of course every boys dream hunting with his father. I probably could on and give way more than anyone really wants to hear but I find myself to be the luckiest person alive to be able to sit and shoot the poop with his father about guns. My passion is because of him and I never tire giving him credit when people ask professionally how I got this way. I hope that this weekend was the start and look forward to the next , your a great bunch of guys and If I can help anyone in the future give a shout. To my Father I thank you for such a great life gift and love you and look forward to many more years

Family obligations (grand kids ball games, etc.) prevented me and the wife from coming. Wish I could have made it sounds like everyone had a good time. Maybe next time.

Thank you son for the help this weekend and I am so happy that my passion became your passion and we are able to spread it to other's. Live life to it's fullest and keep a gun handy to be able to do so. I also love you to.

I enjoyed meeting everyone. Was great fun no matter what you were doing or shooting.

Bill, you have a good son there. Raise him well I can see.

Bill Jr, you definitely know your stuff. Like I said, you could make good money as a gun smith. I know you're stuck on the gun schooling bit, but I can tell you from experience that a diploma doesn't mean jack. I have met people who on paper should be extremely well educated and know their stuff, but are completely useless...I wouldn't hire them to mow my lawn. On the other hand, I have met people who only have a HS education, but teach me things. Doesn't matter the field either. Learn from everyone, just make sure you learn the right lesson.

Oh I can't believe I didn't mention this before, but on the way back I only got to Richmond before I felt it was no longer safe for me to be driving... so I pulled into a darkened parking lot, folded down my rear seats and took a nap halfway in my trunk using a bag of spent brass as a pillow.

One of the over night campers left a folding camp chair down by the fire pit. I picked it up and ment to give it to Bill but got distracted looking at his trophy room and talking to him and Bill Jr. I would be happy to meet up with the owner if you live close to me near Charlottesville or if you're in North VA I can meet you when I go to see my family in DC which I do every 4-6 weeks or so. It is fairly small, by my big butt standards and red with orange trim. PM me if you are the owner and let me know what to do with your lost camper.

@t33j - Awesome pics, man! Thanks for sharing that...
I'm still going over all the great stuff I learned, wrote two pages of shoot-n-greet recounts to my son.

@bill2111 - Glad to see you on here, and again, thanks for the coaching. You can hear stuff, you can read about it, but there's no substitute for seeing it in action. When you took that XD and opened up on everything with mags 2 & 3, it all clicked for me. when I get back from the beach you can betcha there's gonna be some .45 rattling going on in Louisa!

Just wish there was more time, for shooting and chewin the fat...
Now is the time for all good men to get off their rusty dustys...

Wow ! Sounds like all had a great time. Sorry I missed it but had to be at the flatlands then.
Didn't realize but Bills place is real close to my little farm in Chase city.
We will have to get together and shoot some time. Glad every one enjoyed the day.
