Springfield XDm 9mm 3.8. First handgun owned, fired it first time on Friday at Silver Eagle Group in Ashburn, VA. Put 50 rounds through it as part of a class.

Now you just have to find what else you can fit in the cable lock slot.

I liked it! I was prepared for the sharper snap of the shorter barrel and it was far less than people led me to expect. Keeping in mind that I have fired handguns only once before and this was the first time on the range, I think it handled pretty well. I'm no expert, but my shot cluster was pretty tight.

Fantastic! I've been thinking about one of these to go with my XDm .40.

Very nice! The XDm was on my short list. I like the fact that it comes with not only 2 steel magazines, but also the pistol and magazine holsters, mag loader and different size backstraps. I'm probably going to SEG on Thursday to put about 200 rounds downrange in my new G17.

Congrats and nice looking piece!

I'm going on Wednesday during a late lunch to SEG. What time at SEG on Thursday?

I might be going on Wed instead as well - probably early afternoon if I can go. I just got another 200 rounds of ammo today and placed an order at CountyComm for an XL EOD bag and picked up a 5.11 pistol case yesterday at Sterling Shoe and Leather. My little discresionary pile of cash is dwindling fast...

I think this hobby is my friends' revenge for getting them and their wives into photography. I got to handle a XD subcompact this week and now I want one in addition to the XDM .45. I fired my friend's XD .45 - first handgun - and I was hooked.

SEG opens at 2PM - aiming for 1415.

Hey, getting your wife hooked on something like that could be a good thing...every time you bring a new gun home give her a new lens to play with first... :hysterical:

Great looking set up you have there. From what I know about them, a good choice for a first gun.

Since you are relatively new to guns, please make sure that safety is your first priority. As you ingrain good safe shooting and handling habits, your overall gun experience will be much more enjoyable.

Now...when are you getting that concealed carry permit?

I fired longarms in high school on a military range and safety was drilled into me. Muzzles pointed in the wrong direction are an uncomfortable point ever since I had someone sweep the line more than 20 years ago.....

Submitting for a CHP soon!

Congrats on a fine choice. I have the standard XDm 9mm, and it's been flawless. It's one of my range guns, as well as my IDPA gun.

I have been looking at one of these also.
I really like it and it will probably be my next purchase.
Seems like a good CC piece.
