Looking for Rifle Ranges near Richmond
I've been searching for a good place to shoot in or around the Richmond area. With the WMA ranges closed most of the year I've been having a hard time finding a place to shoot.
I thought about the Ft Lee range since its not that far and I can bring friends, but they it doesn't look like my rifles are authorized on the range.
Looking for somewhere that will I can shoot these
M1 Garand
M1 Carbine
M1917 Enfield
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Public preferred, but if membership wasn't that bad I would consider a private range as long as I could invite guests to come shoot with me.

Re: Looking for Rifle Ranges near Richmond
I have stopped going to the public ranges at the WMA after issues with other folks there and some of the game wardens with attitudes getting all swelled up like toadfrogs and hollering/shouting at everyone.
I joined the Black Creek Shooter's Association. Its a series of ranges north east of Richmond near Mechanicsville. 100 yds. is the longest range there. Your rifles would be A-Okay at that range.
If you're a member you can bring guests for $5 per visit. Membership is $100 a year. They've probably stopped accepting new members for this year already.

Black Creek is about it for inexpensive options.
Cavalier is nice, which much longer ranges, but not cheap. And you'd still have to wait until next year to get in.
If you can go further afield there are more options, in Tidewater and towards the mountains.

!st Ft Lee allows NO rifle except 22LR, I've shot ay Amelia Wildlife during the week with no problems. I have joined Blackcreek 2 years ago, again I shoot just during the week. So for a weekday pass for me $75 doesn't hurt me. I'm 45 mins. from Blackcreek and Amelia both. I will tell you this Amelia you shoot through contrect pipes

Blackcreek only excepts new members in Jan & Feb, It is first come first serve. Old members must have dues in by Jan and any open spots are then up for grabs. When KC has a safety meeting to join you must be there or lose chance to join. He usually holds them during the week

I heard from Dance's Sporting Goods yesterday, that the Sussex Shooting Sports range will be opening pistol and rifle ranges soon. No details. I't out 460 East toward Tidewater area.

Re: Looking for Rifle Ranges near Richmond
Fort Lee DOES allow rifles! Rimfire such as .22s and .17 HMR, also we have 5 shooting lanes for .17centerfire upto .223 (5.56) but for what he's looking for will have to wait until our big-bore rifle range is finished.Paliden wrote:Ft Lee allows NO rifle except 22LR

When did you all allow .223? Glad to hear that. Last time I was there it was rim fire only, but I also remember big bore there. (that was some time back)POWOfficerInCharge wrote:Fort Lee DOES allow rifles! Re: Looking for Rifle Ranges near Richmond
We opened 5 shooting lanes for .17 centerfire up to .223 back in May on the military's M16 range next to ours, this was a compromise since the big-bore range is taking so long to be rebuilt.Paliden wrote: When did you all allow .223?
