congrats Carlo!

Re: New CHP VA Beach!
Congrats! I'm waiting on mine. I turned it in on 3/12. Cool to hear that it only took 30 days. Hopefully I'll get mine sooner than I thought.
I recently ordered a Comp-tac MTAC holster for my Sig 229. I've heard good stuff about Don Humme holsters as well.

I was talking to my cousin who lives in NW VA he got his on the spot no wait time gotta love small towns! Thanks for the advice on the holsters.wtownsend81 wrote:Congrats! I'm waiting on mine. Re: New CHP VA Beach!
Congratulations on your new Virginia CHP! Mine took about 40 days and I had to answer "interrogatories" from the City Sheriff regarding my record in the NCIC. Back when we were kids, my brother and I slugged it out with some "out of line", "wise mouth" cops in my home town(they won!) and we were charged with assault. The County Attorney decided to "noll proess" the charges and we were dismissed, but that damn thing was never disposed of on my NCIC "sheet" and it still follows me around to this day. No problem eventually for me, but getting it in the mail is different and very progressive! I had to present my worn out bones to the Clerk of the Charlottesville City Circuit Court, receive a nice "lecture" about my responsibilities as a CHP holder and a caveat to "take care of myself". Of course, this was all very well-meaning and the Judge is an old associate, but after many years as an Infantryman, a police investigator, a regional jail superintendent and a corrections warden, I smiled and conceded some superfluity to this procedure. Hey, I try to "play the game". Anyway, safe and happy shooting and take care of yourself.

When I first got my permit it was so I could have a gun in my glove box without breaking the law. It took a while longer before I actually carried it on my person. It took still longer before I carried it with a round chambered.
Baby steps. do what feels comfortable.

I guess I was lucky then cause I went to the courthouse 3/17 and got mine in the mail on 4/2 so 16 days.

I don't carry IWB, but I do have a Don Hume J.I.T. slide holster that I really like. It's a light OWB holster and I carry a S&W j-frame in it. Well suited to a smaller-ish gun like a snubby. Good quality holster.carlo01 wrote:I'm pricing some IWB holsters nothing fancy mainly clip on leather any good experiences with Don Humme brand?

I use a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB and I'm very happy with it. I can barely tell I'm wearing it and I wear it pretty much everyday.

Your post must have been good luck...my CHP came today in the mail! Turned in the application on 3/12, so just under 30 days.carlo01 wrote: I was a little suprised that it took less than 30 days I turned mine in on 3/5 so it was actually 27 days had to look at my receipt hope you get yours in the mail soon! I've been wearing my gun and holster around the house for a few days in anticipation lol. It took some getting used to and adjusting the MTAC holster a bit, but I think I've found a good "spot" for it on my waist and it's getting more comfortable now.

I also carry in a CrossBreed Supertuck. I carry a Glock model 30 .45 cal all day and this holster is very comfortable with a quick draw. It is adjustable for height and cant so you can find the right spot for you. Don Hume has a very good reputation but I haven't owned any holsters from his line.JC420IN wrote:I use a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB and I'm very happy with it.
