S&W polymer revolver

When the Ruger LCR came out, I knew it was just a matter of time before other gun manufacturers would jump on the polymer revolver band wagon if it seemed like it was catching on. Smith & Wesson will have one coming out. I saw it mentioned in a recent American Rifleman, and went looking for info. When I read the mention, I noted that it is .38+p and the weight is 14.3 ounces. My aluminum framed j-frame is .38+p and weighs in at 15 ounces. So my initial reaction is ...why? It does have laser sights already attached and has a pinned front sight. Also a weird ambidexterous cylinder release on top.
When Ruger came out with the LCR, it was their first light weight revolver. It was a risky venture to go with a polymer model, but it has seemingly been a success for their entry into the lightweight revolver market. Smith & Wesson, on the other hand, has many different flavors of lightweight revolvers. So I don't quite get it.
Thoughts?

Even though I'm a Smith fan I think I'll pass. IF I'm gonna carry a small concealable revolver it's going to be a j-frame.

I looked at it too, and like has been said already, I'm a S&W fan also. I'd have to hold it to be sure. The Lord blessed me with fairly big hands and having held some of these small pocket weapons, I just don't know if I can get a good, consistant grip to be accurate. I know I can almost put my index finger over the barrel end of a Kel-tech P3AT and correct me if I'm wrong, I just see that as a bad thing

Definitely not a fan of shaved hammer revolvers...no SA...yes, I know thats not a big factor with a carry revolver but still dont care for it...

Only if I want to hit something more than once and not by accident!

Yeah. If your slow enough on an DA only revolver it can shoot almost as good as SA but in a stress situation you aint got the time. To confess, about the only time I would use SA in a defensive situation is so the BG could hear the nice loud CLICK!!!!

Seriously, if your gonna carry a revolver you might have time to go to SA but I wouldnt bet on it...

I prefer a hammerless revolver as a defensive gun since it allows for a higher grip. As far as the original poster ? IMHO a 8-9 lb trigger pull on a da SA or revolver for that matter is about average.

I like the slick hump backs, but need to see one , the top strap cylinder release is interesting being left handed, but I love "J" frames

S&W also released a 380 semi alongside this new revolver, the Bodyguard 380. Any thoughts on this little guy?
