WTB New Carry Gun

I'm looking for an everyday carry gun. Something in 9mm or .38special (maybe 40s&w) so my wife can shoot it too. No full sized (M1911, M9). I don't want to go over 25oz.

I have my eye on a few models:
Glock 26, 27
Ruger SR9c
S&W J frame or M&P compact
Sig 2022

So, small is the theme here. What do you got?

A Glock 26 is a great carry gun and the recoil is not too bad either.

That's what I'd really like. Though, its not like I'd be settling if I got something else. I'll shoot anything. Comparing most of these guns today is like comparing Snap-on to Matco.

If it's a wheel gun you're looking for, I'd recommend a Ruger LCR over the S&W J-frame

Get a CZ PCR ... same size as G19, aluminum frame, 14-round mags, relatively slender, and very accurate. Here's a pic of mine:

The only reason I would get a revolver is they are the ultimate balance in reliability and concealability. The biggest reason to go with an auto is more rounds. So if I have a choice between a 5 round .38 and a 7 round 9mm, I'm taking the revolver. On top of that, a Glock 26 is only slightly bigger that a LCR and it carries 12 9mm rounds. I tried one in my front pocket and it almost disappeared. Thats just my logic. Single stack autos are much slimmer and smaller that even J-frames, but if I'm carrying an auto I'd like 10 or more rounds.

I should have edited my original post. I'm pretty much set on getting a glock or an M&Pc (something without a manual safety). Down the road I'll get my hands on a J-frame.

How come you'd take the LCR over the J-frame? Just curious...

The main reason for me is the grip on the LCR. It's the only .38 snub that doesn't make my hand feel like it's going to fall off after firing more than a few rounds. That, and the fact that it's lighter than the S&W airweights.

Are you talking about a M&P 9mm or a Ruger MP9?

Try looking at the XD SC, very nice package. Comes with larger mag (16rnd I believe) that makes it very comfortable for range work.

I tried out an LCR just a few weeks ago. It's a small gun that I could fire all day without my hand regretting it afterward. There's some snap to it, yup, but it's actually fun to shoot. The lightweight J-frame (without the lock) is a good gun, but practice with it is not fun. The LCR, like a J-frame, also disappears in my coat or slacks pockets, and it's lightweight. Not that it'd matter much for CQB, but even the sights are pretty darned good.

Being a wheelgun, it's never going to stovepipe if you have to fire it out of your coat pocket at close distances. When your life's on the line, I like that reassurance.

Oh, and the trigger is to die for. Totally suh-weet! I wish all revolvers had triggers like the LCR's. Like Mike Myers said on SNL, "it's like buttah."

For its intended purpose, I'd say Ruger hit the bullseye on this one.

That's a S&W M&P 9.

Speaking of S&W, the M&P9c (compact) is what I carry every day. A bit heavier than the G26, but accurate and eats anything you feed it. Been very happy with it.
