Greetings from Loudoun Co.
Figured before I start posting, I'd give a shout out to everyone from here first. Found my way to this forum from other forums while doing some research, several weeks ago, and have been popping on and off ever since. I haven't joined many forums because it is a "gun specific" or activity specific type deal, but I have realized that it is important for people to be more involved with local issues of interest... and nothing has become more dear to my heart the past few years than second amendment and gun laws.
Firstly, I'm originally from WV, and have taken the right to own and carry guns for granted most of my life - only because we are born with guns in our hands, and I didn't know other states were so, uh... different. Remember, this was "pre-internet". lol However, I have been living in VA for over a decade now (thus, I've always been a Virginian - East or 'West by God'.
I'm more than a casual poster. I have contacted local and state politicians for the past few years supporting gun rights (thru NRA information mailings). I have been a VA CCW holder for a decade, and have associated myself with a network of good friends who are also active in politics and have CCW permits. Currently, I am assisting friends in MD that have been fighting for their rights to conceal carry. Yes, it's a long, hard slog for them, but... solidarity brothers.
Anyway - that's "my deal". Will be posting if I have anything of value or interest to add. I'll flesh out my profile as time goes on.

Interestingly enough, a few nights ago, I followed a link to the VCDL's VA-Alert system and now get those alerts... as well as a few friends I sent the link too. I do appreciate the easy to read style of the alerts, and a bit more info as opposed to the NRA's general overview style. I'll look into the group.Oldtimer wrote:to the forum
You might look into joining the VCDL.
Also, thank you all for the welcome. I kinda like Loudounian (even though it doesn't roll off the tongue as well) as opposed to Loudounite (which reminds me of Luddite). How about we split the difference and call ourselves the Loudounese?
Honestly, I like Loudoun, even though it is eastern Loudoun. I've met LOTS of good local gun carriers here and have received some pointed advice.

Welcome.

It OK, if y'all West Virginians had been able to see the future during the Civil War, I'd wager y'all would still be Virginians.VAGentlemen wrote:Firstly, I'm originally from WV...

Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.
Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.

Come on in here and have a seat and tell us a bit about yourself, cause you see we are a friendly sort and like news from the outside.

I'm a simple man with simple pleasures. Not to get all "Match.com" on everyone, but a perfect day for me would be to pack up the Harley, ride to the gun range to punch holes in paper with one of my two favorite weapons: my carry weapon of choice is my Springfield Armory EMP .40, my go-fast is a Kel-Tec PLR 16 (for the ever present zombie threat). Have some roadside BBQ for lunch. Come home, light up a cigar with some blues music... and clean my pistols. Oh wait... I just did that today...
