NOVA Armament - Herndon, VA - Review

If you got a good deal or great service from a shop or range and you want to brag about them, here's the place to do it. Likewise, if you are unhappy about someone's service or feel like you've been ripped off, we want to know that too!

NOVA Armament - Herndon, VA - Review

Post by vbrtrmn »

Nova Armament

795 Center Street #4A
Herndon, VA 2017

I was just up there yesterday and...

They have a good selection of new handguns, AR platform rifles, AK platform rifles, other rifles, and some shotguns; as well as a nice selection of consignment firearms. I was honestly surprised by the number of AR platform rifles, if I recall correctly, they had 10-15 on the wall. They have some ammo, mainly the basics (9mm, 22, 45, etc); though they did have two bricks of 7.62x25, one of which I purchased; you don't see many shops with 7.62x25. They also had a decent selection of accessories and cleaning supplies. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, I will definitely do business with them again (probably later today).

I asked about FFL transfer price, they said $25 + $2 fee, definitely fair for the area.

Sounds like they're getting off the ground nicely. I visited them once during their grand opening, and they didn't have a whole lot of stock, but the people definitely seemed nice to deal with. I'm glad to hear that they're getting stocked up!

Hmm... This reminds me I said I'd check back in with them, they said they had more things coming in when I stopped by a month or so back.

Visited NOVA Arms yesterday morning mainly to check the place out. Looked (and was tempted) but didn't buy (this time). I came away thinking that the staff was exceptionally customer-friendly...the kind of experience that made me glad I went out of my way to visit them.

Just ran over during lunch for some .380 ammo. Yes, they have some if you are looking.

They also have a new FN SCAR 16S for $2300 on the wall. I believe that is normally a $3,000 gun. It has some cosmetic blemishes, but who cares about that sorta thing. They pretty much encouraged me to play with it even though I made it clear there was no way I could purchase that gun.

Nice set of folks.

I like that they have holster selection that simply isn't a wall of Galco and Serpas.

It was Prvi Partizan FMJ at 50/$31. I only bought one box.

BTW, just came back from Blue Ridge Arsenal. They have about 4,000 rounds of PMC at 50/$21.

Just a business suggestion:

If you are going to be closed during normal hours (M - F : 9 -5)...*please* post it on your website... it is where 9 out of 10 (and me) people will go for the latest information on your business...

it was a little frustrating to wind my way through downtown Herndon in the rain, to find you closed today...

I will get over it...but, c'mon, help a brother out...
Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.

Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.

Just got another gun from Nova Armament, a Mossberg 500 with two barrels, needs a bit of work but the price was right at $170 with taxes and transfer.

I find their ammo prices to be very reasonable. For those who shoot .38 Special and don't reload yet, they've got the Georgia Arms ammo up there in bulk ammo cans for something like $110 for 500 rounds. That ain't bad at all for .38 Spl. Their 7.62x54R prices (Winchester) is also decent, $17 and change for 20 rounds.

Hmm. Thinking of heading up there on Saturday. Did they have a decent selection of shotguns (mayhaps another Mossberg?)

I was just there today. Selection on the sales floor is smaller compared to other gun shops I have been to. But the pricing is better. They did say if they don't have it in stock they can order it for brands they carry. And the guns they did have were nice guns. I think I did see a mossberg there, but can't recall what model it was. I think 590. I would say give them a call if you are looking for a particular model or go have some fun and go look.

Thanks! Think I'll make an afternoon of it, see what they've got.

Well, just got back from NOVA. Nice group of guys, really friendly. I picked up a Mossberg 500A w/heat shield and some ammo.

As soon as I get some more disposable income, I'll be heading back.

They are definitely friendly folks up there. It was great to see 'em at the Chantilly show this last go-around. JT was there this time, hopefully the guys can get Wei to show up at the next one. He knows why the 2A matters, from personal experience (he's not originally from this country).

Always amazes me that folks who come here from other countries seem to value and appreciate our freedoms more than so many who are born here....

I just bought my first firearm there. They were very friendly, enthusiastic, and very patient with all of my newbie questions. I felt very comfortable there, and even the customer present pitched in with advice and help.

(First handgun is a Springfield XDM 9mm - have a hand-me-down 12 gauge shotgun that I've never fired.)
