White House Challenges Republicans on Health Care Threat

Post by zephyp »

So the WH twits throw the gauntlet down and dare the right to focus on health care in the upcoming mid-term elections. I'm guessing they (the socialists) have a little secret. I'm guessing they will try an end run on maintaining power in congress regardless of the outcome of the mid-terms...and I'll throw this smiley in for the benefit of those who think I've stood too close to a radiation source or something similar.... :tinfoil:

By the way, is it me of does axelrod look like his mama was a weasel?

White House Challenges Republicans to Use Health Care for 2010 Election

Expressing an increasing confidence that a massive health care overhaul will pass Congress -- despite dire warnings from Republicans about its impact on Democrats in November -- White House officials on Sunday dared the GOP to bring it on during this fall's 2010 midterm election.

Expressing an increasing confidence that a massive health care overhaul will pass Congress -- despite dire warnings from Republicans about its impact on Democrats in November -- White House officials on Sunday dared the GOP to bring it on during this fall's 2010 midterm election.

"We're happy to have the 2010 elections be about the achievement of health care reform. That's a debate I think we're obviously comfortable having," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said on "Fox News Sunday."

"Make my day," added senior White House adviser David Axelrod.

"If the Republican Party wants to go out and say to that child who now has insurance or say to that small business that will get tax credits this year ... you know what, we're actually going to take that away from you and we don't think that's such a good idea, I say let's have that fight," Axelrod told ABC'S "This Week." "I'm ready to have that and every member of Congress ought to be willing to have that debate as well."

White House aides and House Democratic leaders have expressed increasing confidence they will get the 216 votes needed in the House to pass a Senate version of a health insurance overhaul that is not exactly what any Democrat wants but is more than no bill at all.

In a possible sign of the swinging momentum, President Obama postponed plans to travel abroad this week in anticipation of a vote that will determine the fate of his signature issue and could indicate his wherewithal for the remainder of his term.

Republicans have repeatedly warned that a vote for health care would spell disaster for the Democratic Party as majorities of Americans say the current bill needs to be put down and a new version begun.

On Saturday, Republican Leader John Boehner reportedly told Republican activists in Montgomery County, Ohio, that Democrats are going to lose their majority as a result of the vote.

"This is the year. This is the moment," Boehner told the group, according to the Middletown (Ohio) Journal.

Boehner repeated his prediction on Sunday while acknowledging the challenge of reaching that goal.

"I think that -- that we have a chance at winning Republican control of the House," he told CNN. "No question that we're going to get outspent in this election. ... But I can tell you this, we've got more candidates than we've ever had. We've got better candidates than we ever had. We have a better process of helping to grow candidates and grow campaigns than we've ever had."

"(Senate Minority Leader) Mitch McConnell has been generous, John Boehner, the Republican leaders, in giving advice to Democrats about how perilous this vote is. I wonder what their motivations are in offering us advice about how to strengthen our party," Axelrod mused on the same show.

Acknowledging the constant political calculations being made behind support for or opposition to the bill, Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., said if Republicans wanted to be "completely irresponsible," they would permit the legislation to be passed and then campaign against it in November. That is something Republican lawmakers are not willing to do because repeal would be an uphill climb.

But Alexander said he agrees with Obama's remarks that "the health care debate is not just about health care. It's a proxy for the larger issue of the role of government in American lives."

"We think he's right about that," Alexander told CBS' Face the Nation." "I think it's a political kamikaze mission for the Democrats to insist on this."

I said it months ago, its as they say it is, if they get this crap passed, it will be tough for the republicans to beat them. There will be ads running in every district depicting republicans as the evil overlords who want to TAKE AWAY YOUR FREE HEALTHCARE........ it is a reality of politics. Thats why they are fighting so hard to pass it. Their voter base depends on free everything. They know it, if this bill does not pass, Obama is finished. They will fight to the death, even if its the death of america.

Well, I wouldnt be surprised if the mid-terms dont matter even if the dems get ousted at the polls. They dont have to leave until January and we've seen how they change rules. Look at the rule they are drafting right now for this health care bill. The one that says the house doesnt have to vote on the senate version for it to go to obama. Who's to say they wont change more rules if/when they sense they are going to get the do-do kicked out of them this November?

I am certain beyond any doubt that most reading my thoughts on these lines shake their heads and figure me for a kook. Think about it. Do you really think something like that is beyond the "we won" crowd? As evidenced by congress and our own delegates here in VA they make up rules and break existing ones as they go along to suit themselves...hmmm?

Or better yet, what if they tinker with the elections laws before November. Read section 4 of the Constitution:

http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html

Section 4 - Elections, Meetings
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Place of Chusing Senators.

The way I read that they can screw things up and claim it be Constitutional.

I can hear pelosi now - "We really think this is in the best interest for Americans. There is so much unfinished work and we cannot allow our agenda to save the country be jeopardized."

I'm merely suggesting that it would not surprise me one bit if liberals in congress move to dink around with election laws if they see the handwriting on the wall.

If they did change the election laws, we all remember Hillary and some others were in favor of doing away with the electoral process way back in 2000.., what if they "overhauled" the election process the same way they are doing healthcare, education, industry? would that be an act of w..?

Is there a "bag limit" on liberals? Or is it the same as any other worthless varmints? Axelrod looks like a fat douche bag with Hitler's face and Pelosi's disposition. And, don't forget Gibbs. He's a cross between a weasel and a tumble bug. The entire liberal regime in Washington is the ugliest, most obnoxious collection of human (?) scum to ever adhere to the face of the earth! That includes the Obamas, Reid, Pelosi, Clinton, Schumer, Boxer, Emmanuel, Axelrod, Gibbs and the rest of that bunch of trash. When they are all gone the White House and halls of Congress will most definitely will need to be fumigated and extensively cleaned before further use!

Maybe a few incorrect terms here, but I believe the Reichstag voted itself into recess shortly after Hitler became the Reichfuhrer, gave the Fuhrer the power to rule by decree, and could be called back into session only by the Fuhrer. Do you believe Reid and Pelosi are cynical and unscrupulous enough to do that? I think they are.

The Constitution is pretty clear. They can change the state election laws. These liberal socialists need to understand that what goes around comes around. What is advantageous to them today will be advantageous to the right tomorrow...like doing away with the filibuster rule.
