Looks and sounds nice but I'd prefer to study ballistics between 100-300 yards before jumping on one...

I had thought about one for my next AR build. Kind'a torn between a 6.8 and the .450 I like the .450 ballistics better for my use.

.450 ballistics can be found in the pdf link below. The .450 is the last one at the end of the ballistics table.

I'm still thinking about a Beowulf .50 cal AR... of course, if they do pass the Virginia Firearms Freedom Act, I wonder if I can mosey down and pick up an automatic version...

After looking at the ballistics I think I'd rather have an AR in .308. Little flatter and similar energy to the .450. I'm also a little leery about the AR platform in anything bigger than a 5.56. I've read there have been some issues with the larger cartridges.

For those of you interested in .308 caliber AR rifles - the 30 Remington AR is listed in the same ballistics table Rick linked to above... It's a fat .30 cal cartridge that's about the same length as a typical 5.56 - it looks a little funny.

Here's a write-up on it:

Any takers yet?

I have a 20' Bushmaster 450BM on a anvil arms lower, and I Love it!!! keep in mind I also own a DPMS LR308 but I prefer to take my 450 deer and black-bear hunting. The 450 is lighter and I can use any of my AR lowers on it.

A big plus is Hornady and Remington BOTH make ammo for it!!

In my very limited opinion I consider it to be the a perfect rifle for the area that I hunt, STEEP mountains with very little chance of shots beyond 200yrds, but when I go back home to Colorado elk hunting I always take my 308 and 7mag.

Bushmaster makes the Remington 450BMs

Easy reloading is also a big +
