Gun Clubs for CMP purchase?

Post by ggent001 »

Hi there. I've been wanting to buy an M1 garand and have found that the prices at CMP are pretty good. In order to order from them though, you have to be a member of one of their organizations or club affiliates. I'm a student and don't have a whole ton of money. I've been saving up for my rifle and would like to join a club that CMP would recognize, and that would be cheap. I'm in the hampton roads area around norfolk, chesapeake, portsmouth, va beach etc.. Any suggestions on lower price memberships would be very much appreciated. I want to get that rifle!!

Lafayette Gun Club of Virginia Inc. in York County is a member of the CMP program, initiation fees and 1 year membership are $220. $150 per year thereafter. It has an open membership but you do need to be sponsored by a current member and belong to the NRA.

I belong to VCDL (http://www.vcdl.org/) which is a marvelous organization that actively, intelligently, and effectively works toward firearms freedom in Virginia. st of joining is nominal. I seem to recall $25.

It is affiliated with the CMP according to the website (linked above).

Any gun owner in the Coomonwealth would be well advised to join and could be certain that dues and contributions would be put to good and honest use.

Check with local Boy Scout Troops or Venturing Crews in your area. The CMP has a Memorandum of Understanding with BSA so scout units can affiliate for no affiliation fees.
