Sharpshooters (NOVA) Shoot and Greet - 15 Feb

Post by zephyp »

Ok NOVA residents (and others too). We are trying to get a group together to have another VGOF shoot n greet at Sharpshooters (link below for directions and details on Sharpshooters).

Btw, I'll be out of touch 1-5 Feb so your on your own planning until then.

We're planning to gather on 15 Feb (President's Day - what better day to celebrate our 2nd Amendment rights) - time TBD. I'll bring a couple of extra .45s with ammo if someone needs or would like to try something different. I'll also bring a 10/22 (I'm pretty sure those are allowed).

If you want to join us, please come ready to shoot and have a good time. We'll also try a local restaurant after if folks are up for it (if someone knows a gun friendly place nearby please let us know). Sharpshooters also rents pistols and range equipment (eyes/ears) and sells targets/ammo. Its not a bad place to shoot given the alternatives we NOVAites have... They also have a good selection of pistols. Many rifles and shotguns are out so you can actually handle them. AND, for AR fans, they have a new AR counter with parts galore...yeah!!!

Tip: if you are coming from the north Backlick Road and 7100 are good alternatives to avoid the parking lot called I-95S.

Please feel free to join the fun.

P.S. I'll be the guy wearing a blue 8th ID hat trying to figure out who you are...

Sounds like a good time. Here's the address:

8194-M Terminal Rd.
Lorton, Virginia 22079

Map link in the original post, but here's one as well.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=819 ... 29364&z=10

They open at 10:00 hours. I'd say we shoot for getting there when the doors open.

OK, I looked allover the site and saw nothing regarding restrictions. As they sell AR parts I assume we can shoot ARs. Yes? What about an SKS?

You can shoot long guns but pistol calibers only. Also, no steel core ammo (or tracers, incendiary, armor piercing, etc.). I've seen folks shoot Class 3 firearms also.

I'd love to be there, but I don't get President's Day off :(

Sharpshooters also allows Shotguns: Slugs, Buckshot, Birdshot. It's the only range allowing Birdshot in Northern VA.

All in all, probably the best value for the dollar for range-time.

That pretty much rules out all my ammo for AR's, damn you Wolf. Looks like if I come, I won't be bringing the long guns.

Yes long guns are ok with pistol calibers only. Shotuns are ok IF approved by the RSO. Since we're gonna be a group if you want to pattern a scattergun bring it along and we'll see if we can get you on the end lane. Also, no tracer or steel core...You can shoot your own ammo no problem. They do sell and the prices arent bad but they are still under a one box per type. That means you can purchase one box each of 9mm JHP and 9mm FMJ for example.

I also do not have Monday off, but would love to be there. It would mean showing up slightly late (10:45-11) and skipping a class (if I want to be there long enough to make it worth while).
DK, if I could get my hands on one of those .45's I would be more than grateful. I have never fired the .45, but I am considering the caliber for my first handgun purchase (obviously I wouldn't buy it if I haven't tried it).
My attendance still isn't 100%, but consider me in. I will let you know if I have to flake.

Eagle4second if this shoot goes like the 1 we had in december, we passed guns around for all to shoot you should get a change to shoot many different guns.

are there still any passes out there to be had?
or if there is only couple left, i could split the cost with another in the same boat...as i would rather spend the $$ on Ammo

either way...looking forward to it...
Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.

Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.

Im hoping to make it. Being 2 hours away is my only drawback, if I make it, can i have a pass? With these get togethers, is there a lunch or any type of meeting restaurant afterwards?
