Ft Lee Range

Post by DocSteve »

Hello all, first post here. Spent lot of time on my last deployment visiting the site so thanks for keeping me entertained. Anyway, onto the topic. One of the post I read was about Ft Lee needing people to use the POW range. I traveled up to a friends place this past weekend and we went out and got some range time.
Have to say, a nice little place. Was expecting the "big Army" mentality and there wasent any. RSO's were great, pace was good, weather was perfect. I brought a new Kimber I needed to put some rounds through along with some other weapons. I noticed some of the shooters around us had some weapons I wanted to shoot so I happily let them try some of mine in exchange. I admit there were some range violations, a guy to the left of me flagged us with his weapon while trying to clear a malfunction. Then a guy walked forward of the firing line to collect brass which promted me to call a cease fire for the people near us. Gave him a quick safety rule lesson and carried on. Other than that, it went better than I was expecting and will be going back when I'm in the area. Hopefully the center fire section will be open by this summer according to the RSO's.

If that was a Kimber Eclipse, my wife and I may have helped you with the break-in. We were to the right of you with among other things, a Ruger LCP that you might have tried out. We enjoy the Fort Lee range and have taken groups down there. That Kimber was SWEET! We still remeber shooting it fondly. Welcom to the forum. :welcome:

Sounds about right. It wasent an eclipse though, a Custom II. I know, it's been awhile. Since then I picked up my own LCP and got one for my girlfriend. That was her brother that was there with me.
I'm hoping they get their rifle lanes open for the summer. I built an M4 that is my current favorite plinker. Also picked up a 35 Rem that I need to dial in.
I appreciate you guy's letting me put some rounds down range.

That is us. I had misidentified the Kimber as an Eclipse. Give us a holler the next time you are up this way as we have other options on places to shoot rifle.
