I received a pair of Peltor MT15H7F 370-SV for Christmas. Fired 500 rounds over the next 3 days. Wonderful experience. Others at the range were firing from .22 to .50, lots of .40 and .45. No big bangs getting through, could converse in normal tones with my brother-in-law (who had the same muffs).

I love 'em. Oh, and I was using them over my Behind-The-Ear hearing aids.

I recently bought the Pro Mag Gold muffs. I almost always shoot with my wife and/or friends, and wanted ease the ability to converse. In fact, also I bought a set for my wife and for a good friend who's a regular shooting partner as Christmas gifts. This big purchase was based on a glowing review in the USCCA magazine.

Well, the conversing part is entirely possible now and a big plus to our range time. However, despite the stated NRR of 33 on these things, the passive protection is no where near as good as my $20 Browning muffs. I realize that the gun shot sounds going thru the electronics will be muffled, but the sounds leaking around the sides is not processed by the electronics. All three of us felt the sounds of the shots were louder than with our passive protection. The sound is still lessoned, and is not overly painful, but I was really surprised at how poorly these things seal around the ear.

Even with the electronics turned off, I can easily sit and listen to the TV tuned at a normal volume while wearing them. With my cheap passives muffs, the TV sound is muted. I mentioned this over at USCCA and the advice seems to be to double up with plugs when wearing electronic muffs. Somehow the need to add plugs when wearing $300 electronics seems wrong.

I later found reviews of this product on Amazon that report the same poor results as I found. These things just leak too much sound. Expensive lesson, but maybe this report will help others.
