To be honest, I don't understand the outrage at a business that decides it would rather not allow open carry. It is their business. I would think that if YOU have a particular personal problem with their policy, you will go somewhere else. Problem solved.

Exactly - we do go elsewhere and then we're sure to let them know that they're losing business because of their policies and we let our friends know about the place.

When we use this tactic, it is an effort to get businesses to reconsider their stance on firearms due to the loss of business that it causes them. When a business changes their view, then that opens up another place that we don't have to worry about leaving our firearm in the vehicle, etc when carrying.

I understand . How many times has this aproach worked, and can somebody site these instances? just curious, because usually when a business owner is dead set against guns, the only thing that turns them around is being robbed.

I've read more than a couple of stories where this has worked. Specifically, telling the business owner that they are creating a safe-haven for criminals while posting their "Gun free zone" has been talked about a time or two. I'm sure someone can chime in here with some info on one such incidence.

I've informed my share of business owners up here about this but do not have any direct experience with seeing anyone changing their mind. With that, its like the lottery - it you dont play you cant win.

Just because something rarely happens doesnt mean we shouldnt try. Seeds are very tiny things. In order to see results someone must plant that seed and maybe more than once. Others must come and water and tend the seed. Others must guard the young plant to give it a chance. Once it takes root it will grow and become a large tree providing shelter for many.

Sure can!

Fuddruckers on West Broad St in Henrico. They were robbed at gunpoint and the manager (an Army vet) posted a NO GUNS ALLOWED sign after the robbery. A good number of us wrote letters protesting the policy and complained to their corporate office. The manager changed his mind and welcomed us with open arms (pun intended). He admitted that he had put the sign up in haste and he then took it down.

We paid him back for his change in position by having an Open Carry dinner there. Over 100 people in our group ate dinner and it was the most profitable Tuesday night in that restaurant's history.

That is literally putting your money where your mouth is...
NIce example!!

I must say that anyone would be hard pressed to say that we, as a group, do not have excellent follow up...

Carry On!
Be particular, and be vigilant, as the enemy will only attack on two occasions:
When you're ready or when you're not ready.

Also never forget, that everyone who shows up, is not necessarily there to help.

It's going to be interesting to see how this all changes next year when we are finally able to CC in restaurants (Yes, I'm being optimistic). I suspect that there will be establishments that will ban guns outright, but there will be many more that won't post a sign.

The antis will be heartbroken when the local Applebee's doesn't turn into the O.K. corral on a Friday night.

I'm counting the days until the Gen.Assembly gets that bill to the Governor for his signature.
I assume it should be a done deal by April 2010.

That's correct. If the property is not posted at the entrances then CC or OC is permitted. However, if you're OC'ing and asked to leave, you must comply.

Yup. Add Wachovia bank to the list and the branches I've visited do have signs.

Keep in mind ALL REGAL CINEMAS are anti-gun, and ALL SIMON MALLS are anti-gun. I have been around, and around with them to no avail trying to knock some sense into them. :bangin:

BOWTIE is NOT, BUT they serve alcohol, and I haven't OC'd in quite some time.

You know what would be an idea, let some of the "on the fence" restaurants have an OC night, see the profit, see the orderly polite customers, and that COULD encourage others to do it!

You get more flies with honey than vinegar.

Or, have an OC dinner at a gun-friendly establishment and fax copies of the total bill to the gun-unfriendly establishment with a note. "Here's what we were going to spend at your place. Instead, we went to your competitor."

I will NOT leave my weapons in my car to shop or to eat. The only place I will leave them in the car is when I go to an event at my grand daughters school. Them all I carry is my knife, and me. :packin:

 Include on that fax the flip side of the VCDL card where it describes who/what a CHP holder is.
