Sharpshooters VGOF Shoot and Greet

Post by zephyp »

Ok NOVA residents (and others too). We are trying to get a group together to have a VGOF shoot n greet at Sharpshooters (link below for directions and details on Sharpshooters).

We're planning to gather this Sunday (13 Dec) - time TBD, but its looking like 10 or 11 AM. I've got a couple of free passes left (Andy and J already have dibs on 2). I'll pass out what I have left until they are gone. I'll also bring a couple of extra .45s if someone needs or would like to try something different. I'll be breaking in a new Beretta 92.

If you want to join us, please come ready to shoot and have a good time. We'll also try a local restaurant after if folks are up for it (if someone knows a gun friendly place nearby please let us know). Sharpshooters also rents pistols and range equipment (eyes/ears) and sells targets/ammo. Its not a bad place to shoot given the alternatives we NOVAites have... They also have a good selection of pistols. Many rifles and shotguns are out so you can actually handle them. AND, for the AR fans, they have a new AR counter with parts galore...yeah!!!

Tip: if you are coming from the north Backlick Road and 7700 are good alternatives to avoid the parking lot called I-95S.

Please feel free to join the fun. P.S. I'll be the guy wearing a blue 8th ID hat trying to figure out who you are...

Sounds like fun! :) I'll try to be there. Can I CC in the door, or do they get pouty about that?

CC or OC is ok but the sign says unloaded until you're on the hot range.

Hey Bruce, not sure what time yet as some folks are still checking calendars. The hours for Sunday are 10am - 8pm.

Folks that are interested: we are trying to get a consensus on time for the meet-up. Right now its looking like 10am. Please sound off.

Sounds like Fun to me. I would like to bring my son along as well if that is ok.
1000 is fine with me for the time.

Do they have a problem with black powder pistols on the range?

10am works... No black powder. You can OC or CC but you must unload before entering the store. Loaded firearms on the range only.

Sorry DK, I just saw this and posted in the Northern VA section before this. I had said I'd prefer morning there but it looks like you have nailed it down. I'll be there at 10 then.

Looking forward to meeting some of you!!

A few of us gathered this morning at Sharpshooters and had a great time. We spent a few minutes chatting in the store and then hit the range. We were there just over 2 hours. As a side note, there is a church right across from SS and if you park there they will block you in as a couple of VGOF'ers discovered. It was good to meet a couple of new faces and spend time on the range. We had a good time, shared guns, techniques, and stories. The range was nice and cool (but so it was outside too) and there was a little too much dust in the air but it wasnt that bad.

Next time I'm hoping to have lunch after the range - if we can find a gun tolerant place nearby.

Until next time - keep your eyes sharp and your powder dry.

Sorry I couldn't make it, folks. I had a church event that cropped up last evening, so I couldn't make it to the range today.

Lunch or dinner at the next meet-up, after some range time, would be great!

Sorry I could not make it. A server at work blew last night and I'm still at the office doing repairs.

For next time, Red, Hot and Blue seems to be fun friendly. I've OC'ed there before and not had a problem.

Thanks to all that showed up. We had fun. Looking forward to doing this again soon.

Maybe we could line up some thing over at Blue Ridge. I'll talk to them and see what I can find out.
