Re: New Gun Shop in Herndon
Let us know when the Herndon Gun Shop Grand Opening is scheduled! Maybe we could arrange a big VGOF visit to the place on opening day. Will you be giving away prizes or coupons? VGOFers like those kinds of things

Seriously, though, do let us know a few days in advance - if I'm in town, I'll wander in that first day and cheer you on.

I think a VGOF event at the opening would be good. I'd show up.zephyp wrote:I can make that one. I drove by today to take a look and didn't see anybody home. Maybe I was in the wrong location, but I assume you will be in the vacant store front under Tina's Salon. Nice location. I will be looking forward to a new shop closer than VA Arms. David

Re: New Gun Shop in Herndon
David,
That's the place. We just received our occupancy permit today, all we're waiting on now is our FFL, which should be here NLT Friday. After that, we make a couple of orders, inventory it, and then we open.
Thank you all for your patience. It's been an exciting adventure.

Update?
Re: New Gun Shop in Herndon
I got a Facebook message from them yesterday and they are still waiting on their FFL. After which they say they need 2 weeks to get some inventory.ynoty3k wrote:Update?

Re: New Gun Shop in Herndon
We're coming along. Right now it's dependent on the ATF. They told us next week we'd have the FFL. They told us the same thing 2 weeks ago.
Sorry about the delays guys...
We'll make it up to you.

Just wanted to say hello and state that there is going to be a new gun store opening in the Northern Virginia area called NOVA Armament. We will be located in downtown Herndon, VA off of Center Street. We are currently in the construction phase and have applied for our FFL. We expect to be open at the end of October-early November timeframe with the ability to sell firearms either after Thanksgiving or right before Christmas (hopefully).
We are working on a webpage and will soon have some other information coming soon. Please PM us if you have any questions or desires.

Santa came early and he brought a hell of a gift. I live in Nova and am a bit 'highway shy' with all the byzantine road systems up here, so a place that's a hop and a skip from my house is just awesome.

Re: New Gun Shop in Herndon
Last post before this one from the most-welcome Herndon gun-shop guys was 30 October. We're just about to finish Christmas 'way over here in Vienna. Are you open or did the whole thng just die out in November. I hope it didn't and that you're flourishing. It doesn't seem like spam if yo're telling us about the imminent opening of a new, nearby gun shop, but once you're underway, I hope you'll advertise a bit.
Re: New Gun Shop in Herndon
I think getting their FFL through the ATF took a little longer than they had anticipated. As Riana posted above they tweeted on 12/23 that they had received their FFL. A note I received from them said after receiving their FFL it would take a couple of weeks to order and receive some firearms inventory. I think they are still on course to open soon. I know for one I am looking for another local shop.
Re: New Gun Shop in Herndon
Earlier today on another site posters were detailing their firearm wants for the near future. So, listen up, you Herndon boys. My "gonna get" will standardize my wife and me on 9mm. I have a kluge of stuff right now so big changes coming. I want two semiautos for CCW, and the necessaries are high-capacity and absolute assurance that the first trigger pull will send a bullet on its way. Cost will be the final, not the first, determinant. I want two Hi-Point 9mm carbines that might be fired ony once by each of us for familiarization. I'll want advice on whether I want some sort of sighting augmentaton. Will you do that?

Re: New Gun Shop in Herndon
Sorry we've been so quiet lately. We received notification our FFL was approved on the 23rd, and just received the "Actual" paper FFL yesterday.
We're going to open on 30 Jan 2010. After looking at the schedule, we determined that this was the soonest. We're going to be gone from the 4-6 of January attending the Ellet Bros. distributor meeting, then we're going to SHOT Show in Vegas from the 19-22. We will also be away intermittently during the other weeks.
The 30 Jan 2010 day also gives us time to get a decent inventory in. I can't tell you how ecstatic we are in FINALLY getting out FFL. When the ATF says 60-90 days, it's closer to the 90 day mark. We will have this date posted on our website.
Also, if anyone knows anyone looking for part-time work, please have them send their resumes to: nova.arms@gmail.com
Here are the "Must Haves":
* No criminal history, you have to be a nice upstanding citizen in order for VA to approve of you selling firearms.
* Good Customer Service skills.
* Sales Experience in a retail environment.
* Must have Attention to Detail as reviewing the 4473 and VA State Police forms can be repetitive.
* Ability to move heavy objects up to 25 pounds or so at various points in the day. We might get 16 cases of ammunition delivered, or we might receive a few boxes of targets. Flexibility is the key here.
* Ability to use a computer for the VA State Police Background checks and operate a Cash Register.
Here are the "Nice to Haves":
* Concealed Handgun Permit for VA, or other states. This is so you can explain the process to customers, and offer helpful tips.
* Firearms knowledge. It doesn't matter which genre. Just expect for it to expand
* "Gun shop" retail experience is helpful, but not necessary.
* Armorer Certification in Glock, SIG Sauer, or other related companies.
* Ability to speak Spanish. Herndon has a large Hispanic population.
Some of the employee benefits are still being worked on but we're looking at includes seriously discounted firearms for employees, cross training in NRA Certifications, and in Armorer Certifications if interested.
