ABC Store and Concealed or Open Carry
On Saturday I went to visit some good friends. On the way to there house my wife and I had to stop at the ABC store to pick up something. As I am getting back into the car my wife(Also CHP holder) asked "can you carry into the ABC store". HMMMMMM I was stumped because I was not sure 100% on what the answer is. SO I decided to post it on here and get everyones input. Until I get a good definitive answer I will NOT say if I carried.

It's not federal property, it's not a school, they aren't "Restaurant that serves alcohol" and it's not a courthouse. So, unless there's a sign on the door, I say go for it.
Sheetz, Wawa, 7-11 - they all sell beer. We carry in there all the time.

I always do, no one knows it, I always carry concealed when I go to town.
I never thought about it, until I read your post.

Re: ABC Store and Concealed or Open Carry
I'd say that allingeneral is 100% correct. The ABC store, although it is a state run business, is still a business like
any other. So as long as the product they sell isn't being consumed, you should have every right to either Open or Conceal
Carry in their stores. If there is nothing on the door about prohibiting weapons, all is good.

That was a question that the NRA instructor asked during my CHP class . His answer was yes you can carry due to the fact that they do not "consume" on the premises.

That is what I was thinking. I had never thought about it either till my wife said something. No sign on the door. I did carry in the store and the only thing that got hurt was the 5th of crown and a few brain cells.

An ABC store was where some idiot yelled "He's got a gun!!" when mine showed while I was reaching for my wallet. The clerk thought it was funny after he realized it was me with the gun.

Old thread, things change(not for the better) - all Virginia’s ABC Stores became gun-free following the implementation of Governor McAuliffe’s Executive Order 50 .
Re: ABC Store and Concealed or Open Carry
May be an old thread, but just after TMac did his evil, many of the stores did post their doors, I have noticed in the past 9 months to a year many removed the signage, as Concealed carriers were not affected, only open carry per the "order" and the ABC stores being State Executive level agency buildings. I generally still cc when I stop in, and no one even said a word.

EO50 originally included CC and open carry. It was later revised to take out CC. All the stores in my area are posted and I am confused on whether the signs apply or not. I do not bother asking the clerks. They are just working a shift.
Get rid of Tbag TMC.

Re: ABC Store and Concealed or Open Carry
I have noticed all ABCs where I go in NOVA with signage in the last 9 months or so.
The signage would imply to me that all guns are not allowed.
So concealed carry is allowed? New McAwful law/ordinance?
TIA
Edit: BTW, the socialists in Montgomery County, MD are way better than Virginian ABC. For example, currently, Laphroaig Quarter Cask is $57 in VA and $40 on sale in Montgomery DLC (and they have a better website). Comparisons are similar for most things. For that reason alone I have cut back on VA ABC; now I am completely done with them.
