sig p238
I just got a new sig P238 and in two trips to the range have had countless jams with both FTF and FTE. Sig is sending me new magazines but on the sig forum there are several similar stories that were only corrected by sending the gun back. Anyone else experiencing this?

Dont know about probs with thatg pistol, but have tried a different brand of ammo? Not all created equal. I'd make sure you start with FMJ.

I've used four different brands of fmj and one brand hp. I've found numerous similar stories on other gun forum sites.. I think that also explains why the price has come down significantly on internet web sites. Stay away from this gun till all the bugs are worked out.

Looks like you eliminated the ammo variable. I'd try to get a good polish on the feed ramp and load one or two less in the mag and try that. From what your saying it might be a gun prob and maybe not in the mag. Are the FTE hanging up in the chamber or smoke stacking?

On the FTFs the shell is either halfway into the chamber at an ascending angle and is stuck or it's nosed straight into the ramp without ascending up toward the chamber. The FTEs usually have the new shell stuck halfway into the chamber with the old shell stuck next to it almost requiring pliers to get them out. New mags sent by
sig helped but didn't cure the problem so the gun is on the way back to Sig as we speak.

I'm guessing a feed ramp job might help alot. Hope they fix it for you.

P238 back from Sig in a week. They polished the ramp and adjusted the extractor. It's much better but still an occassional FTE. Maybe I'm limp wristing. With the reviews on different forums running the spectrum of perfect to a P.O.S. I wonder if there is more than one manufacturing site?

Re: sig p238
Glad to hear its better. How are the FTEs now? Still failing to fully extract from the chamber? Also, how many rounds between FTE?

Now 200 rounds since it was returned from
Sig. Had the 2 FTE's in the first hundred and NONE in the last hundred. It's a sweet shooting gun when it works and hopefully all the problems are behind me.

BUMP!
Been having jams with mine. Should I take it to a local gun smith or send it to Sig?
My feed ramp is not being smashed or chipped, but it is feeding poorly. Also, one time the slide release slipped out from the body about an eighth of an inch. Not noticeable but it did keep the slide from working. In a life or death situation that would be scary.
